Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Bottle Pours out black topped with a tan head. A nice aroma of chocolate and roast malt along with a little hops. Tast very nice more of the chocolate along with a great roast tast. This brew got even better when it got warm. One of the better brews I have had from Weyerbacher.

Bomber. Black color with a decent tan head. Aromas of heat and toasted malt. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavors of dark toasted malt, wood, maybe vanilla. This just does not quit. It has strong flavors that don’t leave. Finish is mostly dry. Hop? Arguably. It is what it is. Which is excellent.

Nice pour, oil black. Coffee roasted aromas. Hoppy and slightly oaky on the nose, with a twing of vanilla in there too. Smooth body and decent mouthfeel. Didnt get the experience that I expected from barrel aging, but it was still a pretty solid brew.

Thick black pour with a nice light tan head and lacing on the glass. Malty aroma with molasses and noticeable bourbon presence. Oaky taste with raisins. A touch of sweetness with lots of bitter malt and bourbon. Alcohol finish. Thinner than other imperial stouts. Pretty good though.

Dark with a frothy brown head. Smokey cappucino flavor but was very thin. I usually like a stout to have a thicker mouth coating to it which this did not have. Almost like a ’light’ stout.

I thought this Imperial Stout had a lot of vanilla and bourbon character in addition to some nice chocolate notes. However, it also had a quite a watery mouthfeel which was remiscent to me of Yoohoo, which I did not greatly appreciate. This beer poured black as tar with abundant tan head. Aroma was chocolate and alcohol. Flavor was more chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon, but watered down. Mouthfeel was watery. I’d recommend this beer, but in a crowded world full of Imperial Stouts, I thought this one was pretty average. I bought this bottle at the Whole Foods near Fair Lakes, VA.

Dark as night on the pour with a huge, huge head. A great looking beer. I get a little raisin, a lot of chocolate and some other fruits buried in there. I get a very tart feeling on the palate - not sure if that is the whiskey or not. A good beer. One big one and you are set.
