Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Bottle from 2005 @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours a dar brown almost black color with a small off-white head. Roasted malty fruity bourbon aroma with hints of chocolate. Sweet malty okak flavor with hints of vanilla and chocolate. Malty warming finish with lots of bourbon notes.

22oz bottle, this beer has been sitting for about 6 months, a good dark pour with brown head, very flavorful with tons of dark roasty chocolate flavor then more and more vanilla flavor as the beer warms up to room temp.. a good brew but sort of one sided in the taste.

22 oz bottle courtesy of coldbrewky. Consumed at cellar temp. Poured black with the darkest tan head I’ve ever seen. Palate was dry for an Imperial Stout. Quite flavorful with everything you would expect from an Impy, plus some wood and as the beer warmed, the bourbon started to come through. Not real heavy, but it was there. This is a sipping brew. Will someday look to trade for another one of these.

Bourbon aroma and flavor. Black color. It looks thick but is surprisingingly thin on the palate. Moderate malt in the flavor, and the bourbon is everywhere in the flavor and aroma. I don’t care for bourbon beers very much and I sure am bored with this, but this beer does the bourbon better than many others.

Thanks to Joebrew for sharing. Dark dark brown body with faint brown head. Rich coffee nose with lots of bourbon. Very sweet body with roasted malt flavor.

This Imperial Stout pours an eclipse black color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, some chocolate and some vanilla. A medium to full bodied Imperial Stout. Malts are chocolate, touch of dark fruit with some roastiness. Hops are earthy. There is a touch of oak and a touch of vinous quality in this beer, that goes well with the roasty malts. Very smooth taste. Nice balance. Good sipping beer. The slight sour/tart/lactic flavor is nice, it adds to the flavors of this beer without being dominant. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Wow! Very dark brown with a lare thick head. Smooth and rich, tastes of vanilla and butterscotch. Alcohol taste is quite evident-this one is potent! Has a kind of scotch taste to it. Not one to swill but to sip and enjoy. Thumbs up!

I enjoyed this one. Some oak, whiskey, vanilla bean, and whipped cream. Some roasted malt, milk chocolate. Very very smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
