Apr 25, 2007 12 oz bottle thanks to my SS. Sampled this next to Old Heathen. Pours black with a tan ring of a head. Raisins, chocolate, dark fruit, prunes, vanilla, and bourbon in the nose. Wow a lot more complex then its little brother. Light body with chocolate, raisins, prunes, and dark fruit. Pretty decent beer and definitely a step up from Old Heathen, but I’m still not too impressed with Weyerbacher.

Apr 19, 2007 12 oz bottle, thanks to holdenn for this sample, providing it next to old heathen was also a treat. pours dark with small tan head. nose was of bourbon, vanilla, currants, and plums. flavor was of watery bourbon, very faint and weak impression, plums and currants. the flavor lacks richness, depth and complexity. abv was well hidden. body too thin. i liked this better than old heathen but you can really tell it’s the same mediocre impy just put in a barrel, mand well all know that won’t make a great beer.

Apr 18, 2007 Pours pretty dark with a pretty good sized white head. Aroma of chocolate, maltiness, alcohol, and some oak and bourbon. The bourbon is pretty light. Aroma is pretty rich and malty to start but the alcohol came out a lot more as it warmed. I got metallic notes every so often in this that kind of threw me off. Just an average barrel aged imp stout.

Apr 18, 2007 Bomber via trade with Jah Noth (Thanks!). 2005 bottle: Aroma of dark chocolate, toffee rich, definitely can smell the vanilla and the oak in this brew. Pours a opaque black with a tan creamy head that lingers and doesn’t go away. Taste is A definate big chocolate and malt notes, roasted coffee, a whiskey bite, toffee, and a some hops to it. Palate is creamy, tingles on the tongue slightly, and aftertaste of bitter-sweet chocolate. Overall, Very good but not an awesome Imperial Stout.

Apr 17, 2007 Vanilla and chocolate on the nose with hints of coffee, and bitterness. Pours black with a thin tan head. Smooth, milk shake-like, creamy vanilla, coffee (cafe au lait), notes of bittersweet chocolate, a nice notable oakiness, with very light hints at the whiskey. Overall extremely smooth. Very nice.

Apr 12, 2007 Updated: Jan 10, 2008Re-rate...Brownish black pour with a big creamy/frothy dark tan head. Lots of mocha like milk chocolate and oaky vanilla in the aroma, with a sweet lactic note. Flavor is much sweeter than expected. Lots of bitter chocolate, vanilla, some oaky notes, and a fairly strong note of whiskey and vodka like alcohol towards the finish. Palate is medium/full, a bit creamy, but dry and boozy. Overall fairly complex, but a bit thin, and a tad unbalanced.

Apr 6, 2007 poured a jet black body w/ a tan reddish head. The whiskey is in the nose and in the taste. Very noticeable thoughout. malts sweetness is up front also. Nice Imperial stout, packs a punch.
