| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2006 This bottle has about 8 months on it. Pours midnight black with a thick, frothy mocha colored head. Vanilla beans and chocolate fudge dominate the boozey nose. The thick, chewy mouthfeel is a great vehicle for this nicely balanced, but complex beer. The oak adds a great background to the sweet malts. The touch of subtle wood and vanilla play off the brownie sweet body. A touch of pipe tobacco and woody smoke fill the mouth as well. Marshmellows also come to mind. The finish dries out nicely, but not too much, leaving just enough sweetness on the palate. zug4abby (287), San Diego, California, USA

Pours an opaque black color with a tiny tan head and just a little bit of lacing. Aroma is roasty and big with lots of slightly bitter coffee hints. Flavor is very roasty/milky with slight chocolate and caramel hints, milky on the palate and vanilla and bourbon definitely come through in teh flavor. Another very enjoyable Weyerbacher beer!! duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Bottle. Black in colour. Lots of flavour/and a big aroma, thats for sure. Lots of vanilla, chocolate, mocha, oak, licorice in the nose. palate shows all these flavours and remains quite sweet throughout. Theres a lot of flavour, but it doesn’t quite meld together, and it seems a little unbalanced at times. Not bad, i think i prefer the Old Heathen to this though. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 5, 2006 12 oz. bottle. Jet black with a rather fleeting dark tan head, little to no lace. The oakand whisky aromas are quite evident, but there is a bit of roasted malt and some piney hop aroam as well. Quite minimal carboantion, which is no fault as far as I’m concerned. Medium body with less fullness and mouth coating feel than many Imperial Stouts. It’s a littel lighter than I expect with this style. Faintly sweet roasted malts with hints of coffee and burnt caramel are kept at bay a background bitterness that’s notiiceable as soon as it enters the mouth. Interestingly, some of the sweetness extneds well into the finish as the bitterness fades. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA
