Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Pitch black with a brown head. Mild aroma of roasted malts. Sweet molasses taste with the effect of the oak showing. Very sweet ending on a medium thick body.

Once it warmed up, it started releasing a lot of nice coffee and alcohol aromas, slightly reminiscent of a coffee liqueur. I did get the hint of sourness others did. In the mouth, the sourness was even more evident, and detracted from what otherwise was very nice. Another bottle thanks to kramer17801.

Bottle Pours a deep black with a large tan head and very thick sheeting lacing. Very nice aroma of dark roastedness, with notes of vanilla, purple grapes, and slight coffe. Flavor was a bit less impressive, not so dark roasty, a bit sweet, slightly sour and dry. Easy on the bittering hops and a fairly thin feel. Moderate carbonation. Thanks to Kramer1781 for this one

12 oz bottle thanks to FireMoose. Pours very dark. Black with a dark brown head that fades to nothing quickly. Aromas of vanilla and molassas. Hints of sourness I can’t explain. Sourness is not present in the flavor however. The flavor is more vanilla and some bourbon. Some slight alcohol in the middle and a touch of hoppiness on the finish. A little thin on the palate. Pretty tasty anyway. Thanks again FireMoose

Bottled. Opaque black colour, maybe very dark brown. Small brown head. Strong alcohol (whiskyish) aroma along with some hints of roasted malts, coffee and toffee. Strong chocolate mixed with whisky and some roasted malts. Aftertaste is where alcohol comes in. Very smooth and tasteful Impy stout.

Dark muddy brown, almost opaque. Small expresso head. Strong bourbon-whiskey aroma. Medium-bodied. Milk chocolaty flavor with whiskey notes. Finish is a bit alcoholic. Mix chocolate bars with bourbon and you get this brew.

22oz bottle. Dark color. Roasted coffee and chocolate flavor, very bitter. Not that bad actually. Pretty decent stout.
