AdamSkillin (376), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA Jan 17, 2006 Used motor oil to the eye, oaky malt to the nose, vanilla roastiness in the mouth. A filthy delicious beer. Super awesome. Thanks Roger. porterdude (170), Bellingham, Washington, USA Jan 17, 2006 Bottle. Poured a mid night black color with no head. A big aroma of Bourbon and roasted chocolatey malts. I am a sucker for Bourbon and a sucker for Impy stouts. This beer has it all. A very strong coffee and roasted chocolate flavor with a perfect balance of Bourbon. I wish some PNW brewers in my area would get on this craze! gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA Jan 15, 2006 From a 12oz. bottle. Pours a rich black with a thick, coffee colored head. Nose has vanilla, slight coffee and hints of bourbon. Flavor of toffee, vanilla and some oak. Just the right consistency. A different but delicious take on an IS. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jan 14, 2006 Updated: Jun 10, 2006Bottle courtesy of Kramer17801. Pours black with a fizzy brown head that dimishes to a ring. The aroma was faint in the sample, but enough to detect roasted malt, oak, and vanilla. Flavor of roasted malt, molasses, and pepper. The bourbon flavor is subtle. Nice transition to the finish, which is bitter, woody, with some roastiness and slight alcohol. Very good beer. Don’t drink this if you are not a impy stout fan or do not like the flavor characteristics of bourbon. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 10, 2006 Deep black ale with moka head. Chocolate and brine aroma, pickled vanilla and ashes. In mouth, In mouth, chocolate and vanilla, with coconut and butterscotch notes, and no alcohol noted. Medium bodied. DumDum’s Belgian Sendoff on August 25, 2005. hippie4beer (162), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Jan 4, 2006 Bottle. Pours black with a thick brown frothy head. Aroma is souring with notes of chocolate, oak, and caramel. Flavor is oaky with an initial sour coffee that fades into a dry vanilla coffee. Light to medium mouthfeel makes this an easy drinker. SmellGood (314), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Dec 23, 2005 Maybe I’m not sophicated enough to truly enjoy or understand this beer. I found it almost overpowering for my tastes and this is my style of beer. I may need help on this one. The bourbon overtones may have ruined this beer for me since I’m not a fan of hard liquor especially bourbon. jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Dec 23, 2005 Pours from a bottle courtesy of hopdog coal black with a dark tan head with good retention. Aroma is vanilla and bourbon. Taste is oak, a hint of chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla. A little watered-down aftertaste. Overall, a really good beer.
