shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jun 12, 2009 pours a deep brown with a tan head. notes of molasses, burnt chocolate, roasted malts. some whiskey. not too bad viet959 (68), , Georgia, USA Jun 7, 2009 Aroma - Chocolate, sweet vanilla, oak. Appearance - Black with tan head that dissipates quickly leaving a thin layer. Flavor - Chocolate malt, vanilla, some coffee, and i do also notice the plum/raisin on the finish. Palate - full body, creamy, soft carbonation. Overall impression - This beer is good but very light for an imperial stout. It has a good flavor but I’m not personally too fond of the fruit finish. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Jun 7, 2009 pour is jet black wih a thin tan head. Aromas of vanilla, oak tannins, cocoa, chocolate. Decent sipper, yet the flavor profile is a bit thin. I still like what they are doing with this beer. It just could be improved with a richer body. The oak aging aspect is very well done. So I’m kind of torn on this beer. Very good in some aspects, yet lacking in others. NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA Jun 5, 2009 Pours black with no head. Aroma is chocolate and vanilla. Taste is buttery and smooth - chocolate, vanilla, oak, light coffee. No trace of alcohol. Fruity after taste of plums. Full-bodied beer with good mouth feel and low carbonation. Beers aged in whiskey barrels usually don’ t appeal to me, but this one is an exception. Very drinkable and enjoyable. BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 5, 2009 Brewed in the USA..... Pours a very dark brown almost black in color with a super fine beige head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, chocolate and malts. Taste has a nice molasses feel with chocolate, coffee beans and a hint of smoke. The mouthfeel is robust and smooth with a slight bourbon finish. This is a bit on the mild side for an imperial stout but you could drink this all night long. LtDan (471), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA Jun 5, 2009 Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a ring of brown suds gathered at the top. Leaves spotty lacing throughout.
Aroma: Oak, dark chocolate, licorice, bourbon, vanilla, and a little booze sting.
Taste: Dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, a bit of spicy hop bitterness, and finishes with a twang.
Mouthfeel: Silky smooth.
Overall: A fantastic Imperial Stout with a real bite to it. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jun 3, 2009 Great black pour with soap sudsy brown head and spotty lacing.
