IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA May 17, 2009 Bottle. Pour was thick and dark with a medium tan head. Aroma was of chocolate, light roast, bourbon, and oak. Flavors were really well blended making this a smooth and drinkable brew. A slight coffee roast appeared in the finish as well as more chocolate. The oak and bourbon were somewhat hidden, however, the bourbon was present a bit more than the oak. Very fine brew. BroSpud (584), , Massachusetts, USA May 13, 2009 12oz bottle. Interesting stout. I don’t seem to be tasting the chocolate as much as everyone else but I do get hints of bourbon and oak. It does seem a little thin and overly carbonated but still a good imperial stout (not that I have yet to taste a bad imperial stout). HonkeyBra (1270), Lemont, Illinois, USA May 7, 2009 Black pour with a tan head. Aroma of powdered chocolate, some bourbon, Flavor is chocolate, bourbon, oak, and alcohol. Some vanilla. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and too carbonated for an oak aged imperial stout. It’s still a really good drink, though. Hoptagon (132), Arlington, Virginia, USA Apr 30, 2009 12oz. Bottle. Dark chocolate color with a rich layer of tan foam. First hit on the nose is pure oak followed by notes of bourbon and vanilla. Taste is heavily roasted with strong hop bitterness and a touch of sweet malt. The chocolate character is more subdued than I expected. Palate is slick, but a bit thinner and less chewy than other beers in this style. Alcohol is hardly noticeable even at warmer temperatures. A dry pungent roasted coffee character laced with a touch of whiskey dominates the finish. Pretty good, but the thin palate keeps it from being great. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Apr 22, 2009 a winner, smells like a fine brandy with a touch of chocolate. smooth but not overly smooth. the flavors are high end malts with a touch of bitterness. a tad of warm alcohol happens at the end. this is one for the books. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 22, 2009 Updated: Apr 23, 2009The aroma is heavenly with chocolate, vanilla, oak, latte, bourbon, and malt. The appearance is almost black with a small head. The flavor is exactly like the aroma. The palate is thick and smooth. Overall a really really really good beer. Wow juiceisloose (640), Windermere, Florida, USA Apr 20, 2009 Pours a pitch black body with a foamy, tan head that settles to a thin flim with some sudsy lacing left behind. The aroma shows notes of chocolate, caramel, bourbon soaked dark fruit, and some oaky vanilla. The flavor is rich with the chocolate and bourbon. Dark fruits, bourbon soaked raisins, and oak flavors come through and really sweeten things up. The vanilla and oak really come through in the finish with the bourbon flavors lingering. Medium bodied, but a touch thin for an imperial stout, but still slick and easy to drink. Pretty good for a bourbon aged stout, and one I am sure I will try again. ljay6880 (132), , Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2009 12oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Pours a motor oil black with a thick head that was just a few shades lighter. Very The aroma was molasses and coffee. The taste was much the same. I really enjoyed the smooth creamy texture with this beer and I thought this was a very pleasent Russian Imperial Stout.
