3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. Pitch black pour, with a small, rocky, light brown head. The aroma is bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, light smokiness, syrup, and rather significant notes of peat and whiskey. The flavor is very sweet, with some light roasted bitterness and a note of sourness in the finish. Heavy body, syrupy, and a little chalky. The finish is long, sweet, and sticky, with a lot of whiskey warming. Overall, this is a good stout, made significantly better with the application of whiskey barrels.

Guess Iím in the minority because I did not like this even though I love Imperial Stouts. It had a nasty aftertaste and tasted medicinal. Some coffee and licorice notes.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle appears to have a 2012 date stamp.
Pours near inky black but has red-brown edges under light. Thin weak head quickly reduces to a durable thin ring, and leaves spotty lacing.
I find barrel aged beers sometimes have too much of a good thing, leaving them overly woody or dominated by the aromas and flavors of whatever preceded them in the barrel. This one smells like it may fall into this group, but the flavor is excellent, with a nearly perfect melding of oak barrel effect and what I gather is an already super RIS. This is not to say that the aroma is unattractive, it certaininly is not, just that it reflect a substantial contribution from the oak-whisky barrel.
Alowed to warm in the bottle, then improved with further warming in the glass.

Appearance- Pours dark brown. Very little to no head with some lacing on top of glass.
Aroma- Oak, whiskey, chocolate, caramel, and vanilla.
Taste- Wood, whiskey, chocolate, vanilla, with some sweet and tart.
Palate- Full bodied with complex flavors of oak, dried fruit, chocolate with a clean dry finish. Itís a well blended beer.
Overall- Whiskey balanced well with the malt which made the alcohol not overpowering.

Poured in tulip. Black in color small off white head. Aroma is oak, basement, and light whiskey. Taste is coffee, whiskey. Increasing bitter in the finish. Smooth, alcohol is not overbearing at all but there. Warming. A fantastic after dinner beer in place of coffee.

On tap @ World of Beer - The Villages. Fabulous. The menu description didnít mention the bourbon barrels, so it was a very pleasant surprise when it arrived. Amazing dark color.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark black with light brown head. Has a rich chocolate, malt and hard alcohol aroma. Taste starts very malty with some light bourbon, and finishes like a stout with some coffee and chocolate. Very smooth, which is surprising with the aroma.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not my favorite barrel aged stout. Black with tan head. Aromas are mostly a pleasant whisky.. But thatís about it. Same flavor-wise. Whisky. And bitter malts at the end. Good... Not great.
