Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Dark black, jiggling and no head. Looks like a Diet coke. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate chips, Hershey syrup, cocoa powder and a dash of instant coffee. On the palate, it’s thin, syrupy and reminiscent of a 48-hour old pot of coffee that’s been dashed with chocolate syrup. I detect little to no difference between this and Old Heathen. Melted, stale chocolate chip finish. Oak? Whiskey? Vanilla? Yeah right. Thanks to tpkenned for bringing this one along.

Nice one. With usual impy stout characteristics the oak aging helped make this smoother and brought in some vanilla flavoring. Almost a milky mouthfeel.

On tap at Coles, Buffalo NY. Pours apitch dark black. Aromas of vanilla, light oak & bourbon, chocolate. Taste is bourbony sweet with notes of vanilla cream, light oak, slightly burnt roasted malts. Thicker creamy mouth feel. Vanilla aspect seems to dominate the bourbon & oak to me. Still prety damn good

bottle from kramer. solid black beauty with a large brown head. smells like a makers mark bourbon chocolate candy i had at the distillery. flavor is light roasted coffee, chocolate, some vanilla and bourbon flavors are there too but subdued, dry finish of wood, cocoa, some maple syrup. a nice one that does not fall in to the trap of being over barrel flavored.

Bomber. Black with a big light brown head. Big bitter chocolate nose, some wood. Nice, thick lace. Body is a bit watery. Bourbon is up front in the flavor, bitter coffee and mild, dark chocolate. Bitter chocolate finish. The best Weyerbacher thus far,IMO.

Opaque balck with a thick creamy tan head. The aroma is massively oaky, vanilla , wood., and alcogol. Huge oak and chocolate flavor. Quite nice. Full body lots of oak and whiskey in the finish.

Pours a deep black, oily in appearance. The head is a tad thick for an imp.stout. Chestnut brown. Creamy and reasonably quick in subsiding. Sweet, candy/bubblegum aroma, alcohol, bakers chocolate, and coffee. There is a noticeable alcohol bite, slight bourbon and oak taste, burnt chocolate and coffee. Very prominent roast. Burnt roasty palate with an alcohol coolness. The finish was warm from alcohol and sweet. Overall a much better imperial stout than I expected but I also love imperial stouts and tend to have a bias towards them.
