COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Beautiful brown Lacey head. Smells of brown sugar and molasses with an alcoholic bite. Flavor is surprisingly smooth with caramel, vanilla, plenty of malty sweetness and just a touch of hops. A truly world-class beer overall.

Bottle. Thanks Chris! A: Jet black with a mocha head. Good lacing. N: Cocoa, vanilla, caramel, oak. Coffee, smoke and char. Brown sugar. T: Heartily sweet and bitter. M: Medium body with a creamy tingling carbonation. No alcohol. O: The BA RIS starter that holds up really well in this day and age of Black Tuesday.

Black, with a huge mocha head. Aroma roasty and strongly alcoholic. Chalk, and dark fruit notes. Roast and alcohol carry through to taste as well, with chalk and ash showing in palate, along with warming feeling down throat. The influence of the whisky barrel is very clear compared with the regular version, and helps give more substance to the beer.

Is this really an imperial stout? I got barleywine in the tast. Pours dark brown with foamy tan head. Aroma of vanilla, sugar, and tons of sweet malts. Taste of booze and overly sweet. Def more like a barleywine for me than a stout. Was really let down.

Bottle. Pours deep dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, light chocolate, whiskey, oak, faint spice, faint plums, and faint floral notes. Flavor is rich roast and chocolate malt profile, some dark fruit sweetness, light booze, oak, and faint vanilla; dry finish. Medium/full body and medium carbonation.

Pours a dark brown with light brown head fading to a ring leaving decent lacing. Aroma is sweet and rich with bourbon. Taste as it warms is a bit too bitter with coffee. Not the best bourbon barrel stout I’ve had at all.

Dark brown color with a large frothy brown head. Aroma is complex with notes of chocolate, espresso, roasted malt, vanilla and bourbon. The taste is medium to heavy sweetness with a bitter finish. Oily and long lasting finish. Delicious beer!

black with a roasted malt and alcohol aroma; a thick, dark beer with roasted malt flavor and notes of coffee, chocolate, and bourbon; warm alcohol finish; a bit of a medicinal flavor that detracted from it a bit
