2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
This is probably a good beer...but we don’t like whiskey...soooooo we don’t like this beer. It’s aged in whiskey barrels and I’m pretty sure those barrels were full at the time. Pretty sure the vapors are flammable! Take their Heretic beer (which is great) pour whiskey into it...and you’ve got this.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Very dark brown pour, nearly black, with a tan head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, roasty chocolate and coffee, raisin, prunes. Flavour is much the same; a definite whisky note up front with lots of dried fruit and roasty notes at the end. Surprisingly sweet, perhaps a little cloying. Barrel aging definitely didn't mellow this out - rather just gave it a boozy whiskey note. Very tasty, but imbalanced.

Poured from a bottle. Not much head, but amazing lacing, indicative of an incredibly creamy consistency. Terrific aroma of coffee and bourbon. Smooth and rich as it goes down. Delicious beer.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Hits you hard at first but soon mellows in on the palate. Tons of whiskey taste throughout. Comes on too sweet at times.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep clear almost-obsidian, just with some warmer touches. Good sized velvety brown head that lasts quite some time
Nose starts kind of thin with sweet figs and char. Not much more.
Sweet dark fruits dominate and then an alcohol wallop that tickles the throat long after it’s been swallowed. Sweet dark fruits and alcohol. I get no barrel outside of the alcohol itself. Maybe a faint hint of oak part way through but not much.
Not bad per se if it were just a basic overly boozy stout (but still not GREAT [I’m not as big on the fruitier stouts like Anchor, preferring more roasty/char/etc. But thats just me]), but looking for a BA it leaves much to be desired.

Darft at Pour Taproom in Asheville. Poured dark brown with decent tan head. Aroma was great, dark fruits, coffee, oak, vanilla, perhaps a bit of dark chocolate if you dive deep. A lot of oak in the taste along with, whiskey, coffee, raisin, sour.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: silky near-black pour, with a short, dark tan head. Aroma: strong dark bitter chocolate, vanilla, burnt molasses, light soy sauce, and a light undertone of whiskey and wood. Taste: sweet, with very dark chocolate, espresso, prominent vanilla and cream, burnt wood, brown bread, and bourbon. Finish: lingering sweetness, lightly syrupy, a low and smooth heat from the bourbon. Notes: Liked this a lot. Often these barrel-aged stouts are north ot 10% abv and kick your teeth in with the bourbon. This was light enough that the bottle was a savored pleasure, not a chore to finish the final sips. The well-restrained alcohol let the flavors shine. Bottle from Total Wine & More in Fairfax, Virgina (Pickett Center).
