My idiot roommates turned the fridge up too high and ice started to form in this beer. I poured it into glasses and removed the ice, so now this is an Imperial Stout Eisbock. Nice. Somehow this did not F-up the beer. It was Excellent! Very dark black with this brown head. Aroma of vanilla and licorice in oak. Flavor was full and strong. Very oaky with chocolate and vanilla. Damn good beer. I’ll have to try it sometime without removing some of the water. Jine (896), Nutley, New Jersey, USA

Vanilla, cherry chocolate with a bitter burnt toast aroma. Heaey with a softness and sweet quality that is well balanced. Chcolate, cherry, vanilla, wood, richness and the alcohol is well hidden. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 22, 2004 Almost jet black in the glass producing a small head. Very complex on the palate with hints of chocolate, coffee and some sweet flavor, almost vanilla at the end. The bourbon aroma just adds to the flavors making this a very smooth and drinkable stout. Now if I could only get my hands on some more of it. ntk (1), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 9, 2004 12 oz bottle. Poured dark brown, almost black, with a big caramel head that quickly dispersed into an almost nonexistent lace. Complex aroma with notes of vanilla and oak, hard to pin down. Tastes of malt, oak, and alcohol, with a very smooth palate and little bitterness. Has a complex flavor, more like a wine. I’m a bit new to the Imperial Stout genre but I’ve got 23 more of these to get acquainted with. Definitely a beer that the wine-lovers will appreciate, and a good price at that.
