COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Pours a deep, dark brown, bordering on black body. Khaki head thatís absorbed into the depths below rather quickly. Beautiful aroma of vanilla, roasted coffee, cherry, and some oak. Taste is slightly boozy with semi-sweet chocolate, roasted malt, pepper, and toasted coconut. Silky smooth with a touch of honey sweetness on the finish.

Poured from 12 oz bottle to tulip glass on 2/21/15 from a fresh 2015 Batch Minimal off white colored head dissipates quickly leaving just a bit of lacing Color: Jet black Aroma: Oak, Toffee Mouth feel: Very light carbonation, Silky smooth Taste: Notes of vanilla and maybe some cacao. Mild sweetness from bourbon. Soft finish Delicious!! This beer seems to be inconsistent and vary year to year. Have had mixed experiences with this beer over last few years. 2015 is hit on. Enjoy it while it is fresh, I experiences poor results cellaring this beer.

Bottle to beer tulip. Heresy pours like cola and has a light brown head that doesn't stick around too long. It smells heavy on vanilla, malt, cocoa powder, and booze. The taste is more whiskey than bourbon, more jack than makers. There's also the wood and the stout base with a bit more vanilla than others. It's a bit thin but has decent carbonation. Dig it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a clear black body under a small frothy dark brown head that faded to a thin wispy covering. The aroma is heavy on the roast, chocolate, and burnt caramel. Lighter notes of vanilla, bourbon, alcohol, maybe even a hint of smokiness. The flavor is not quite as intense as I remember it being, itís been years since Iíve had one of these. The roast doesnít seem quite as intense, and the bourbon is fairly well restrained, making it quite a more easy drinking than I was expecting. The malt is a bit de-emphasized in favor of a little more barrel character, which is mostly vanilla and oak. Fairly well hidden alcohol, but thereís a bit of warmth on the finish. Not quite the depth and complexity I remember, but it has been a really long time. Medium to full bodied with a slightly clingy and sticky finish. Light soft carbonation. Doesnít taste quite as good as my memory recalls.

Bottle. Thanks Chris! A: Jet black with a mocha head. Good lacing. N: Cocoa, vanilla, caramel, oak. Coffee, smoke and char. Brown sugar. T: Heartily sweet and bitter. M: Medium body with a creamy tingling carbonation. No alcohol. O: The BA RIS starter that holds up really well in this day and age of Black Tuesday.

Black, with a huge mocha head. Aroma roasty and strongly alcoholic. Chalk, and dark fruit notes. Roast and alcohol carry through to taste as well, with chalk and ash showing in palate, along with warming feeling down throat. The influence of the whisky barrel is very clear compared with the regular version, and helps give more substance to the beer.
