kmweaver (2398), Sebastopol, California, USA Nov 27, 2007 12oz bottle, courtesy of my dad. Pours a clear, yellowish-orange color; creamy, off-white head with solid retention and excellent lacing. Very green and earthy in the aroma, almost like stems, with some rough maltiness and citrus; a bit abrasive upfront. The mouthfeel itself is even more abrasive: rough, sharp bitterness and leafy hops; it isn’t terrible by any means, but it’s also not pleasant: rough hops, unchecked bitterness without any sort of resiny or chewy hop character, and just very poor hop profile altogether; just messy. I can’t drink much of this. Lengthy, dry bitter hop finish, showing plenty of stem and spicy hops. PhillyHomeBrew (176), Forest Hills, New York, USA Nov 22, 2007 This has an unfiltered golden brown body with a thick white head. The aroma has huge citrus scents with orange and lime. Very balanced despite the huge hop flavor. The orange and lime of the bouquet are also in the flavor. However, there are a huge flavors of grapefruit and a bit of lemon as well. McGillan’s Old Ale House $22.00 pitcher (Yup, $22, but we didn’t know until we got our bill). Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 17, 2007 An IPA plus, like a 1.5X compared to a DIPA. Seven varities of hops makes for a chewy unique bitterness. Medium plus mouthfeel. A very decent IPA. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Nov 13, 2007 Sampled a couple at home while making some hard cider, I had a craving for hops and this fit the bill. Aroma is concentrated pink grapefruit and sweet mealy malt. Rich copper color with a lasting 1" light tan head and thick lacing. Strong bitterness on the palate that lingers for quite a while. Medium body, and did I mention really bitter. Flavor is heavy on the hops, flavors of citrus and grapefruit which quickly turns to an overly amped bitterness. Basic malt content, would like to see a thicker presence to balance the hops. Hard to discern any other flavors through the thick bittering hops. Definitely an eye opener, I prefer more hop and malt flavors in lieu of a powerful bitterness. stangger (155), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 13, 2007 12 oz bottle. Solid IPA, very standard tasting with a powerful hop content. Tastes almost exactly like Victory Hop Devil. Slipstream (735), USA Nov 13, 2007 Updated: Nov 20, 20087 types of hops, the label on the 12 ounce bottle says. It is a different label from the one pictured at RateBeer. When I first tried this stuff, it was a real eye-opener, and I went looking around for it. it has a lesser impact on me now, but it is still good. There is a foamy head, a nice aroma, and a rich, mellow blend of hop flavors. It is very nice when it is fresh on tap at a good pub - loads of fresh, juicy hops! KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 7, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy, golden/copper color. Medium sized off white head with a decent amount of lacing. Aroma of piney hops with some citrus notes thrown in for good measure. The first sip has a sweet caramel feel to it feel. As it goes down, though, the hop bitterness coats the mouth, from the tip of the tongue to the back of the throat. Nice beer, but I was expecting a bit more. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Nov 6, 2007 Bottle Hazy amber pour with great head and lacing. Thick piney citrus nose with an appropriately hoppy flavor. Sharp full mouthfeel. Great session brew. Absolutely phenomenal label =)
