JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Aug 25, 2007 12 oz bottle. Amber golden beer, lightly orange with a creamy off-white head. Decent hop aroma, orange/grapefruit over soft pale malts. Soft bitterness and a fairly prominent metallic character that fades, but is very distracting at first. Once it does, the orange/tangerine character really comes to the fore. Moderate bitterness. Nice IPA and I imagine it would have benefitted from being fresher. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA Aug 22, 2007 Sweet pine and citrus hit the nose. I’m from the southeast, U.S . These are the smells of home. We are the hot version of the northwest. I enjoy this more than some other highly ranked American hop beers. While huge hops arouse your senses, the malt comes across with class. Very even for such a big taste. I was skeptical. I am more than pleased. bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2007 Pours a nice dark amber color, and a nice foamy head. The is heavenly. Floral, grapefruity, fruity aroma. The taste is outstanding. Off the bat I taste grapefruit and lots of it. Which is not a bad thing to me. A great IPA by a great brewery. I have yet to be disappointed by one of there IPAs. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Aug 20, 2007 Decent IPA. The initial flavor is dominated by hops, obviously. The finish is extremely dry and unpleasant, but disappears on the next sip. Not much malt flavor. Slightly unbalanced, but good beer. thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Aug 15, 2007 Pours a deep amber into a shaker. Fluffy off-white conglomerate head leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Pine, citrus and resin aromas. Tangy citrus up-front, sharp with a lasting metallic bitter finish. Flavor does not match the aroma. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2007 Pours an orange-ish copper with thin light tan head. The first impression of the taste and aroma is wow, really nice mix of hops and malts. The aroma has a pine hop bitterness with floral hop edges. Rounding out the aroma is a sweet smelling maltiness. The flavor hits first with a sizable pine hop bitterness that rides the flavor to the midway point. Beyond that a sweet maltiness, slight roasted maltiness and a tasty buttery note that really adds to the mix. That medley of malt tastes is brief. The pine hop bitterness squashes it. Around the edges of the pine is a hint of floral hops. Very nice brew. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 11, 2007 Updated: Sep 12, 2008Floral hoppy aroma with hints of crystal malts, nice lacing. sweet malts up front, bitter hop finish
rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Jul 4, 2007 Hoppy aroma with hints of malts. Dark orange color with a small white head. Starts with mild sweet hops and finishes moderately bitter.
