maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Feb 6, 2007 Hazy amber pour... sort of orangey-brown. Thin dishwater head. Overall mild nose; caramelly with some sweet fruity and spicy noble hop aromas. Maybe also cornflakes and skim milk? Tangy, earthy hop bite; orange, floral, resiny, peppery. Biscuity and toasty malt flavor. Fun sensations of "hot" cinnamon gum follows in a retronassal sense. Medium body leaning towards full; paradoxically dry and crisp finish. Just enough CO2 to be nippy on the tongue. Broad yet balanced bitter (German-origin?) hop aftertaste. Not much to it at first, but redeems itself at first sip...very nice, and not at all grapefruity. Yum. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 6, 2007 Cloudy orange, amber colour with a small off white head. Hoppy, pineapple and orange fruity aroma with a light malty sweetness. Hoppy bitter flavor with pine and orange fruity notes. Very dry finish. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Feb 5, 2007 Bottle. Nose: lots of sweet grapefruit and lychee and resin with hints of soap. Deep orange body with a creamy beige head and medium carbonation. Brutally bitter taste, kinda overdone, and there’s no noticeable sweetness or sourness to provide relief. Bone dry hoppy finish and after. Just tons of dry hops. Touch of pine/resin. Full body and a relatively smooth trip down. This is very robust but not particularly enjoyable. melvin980 (184), Pennsylvania, USA Jan 28, 2007 Updated: Feb 25, 2007Very good. Delicious. Nice amber color and so forth. Delicious hoppy taste. A fun time. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 27, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2007On tap at the Trivia Pub in Moon Township. This is a typical IPA. Hoppy bitterness that slams with grapefruit peels. Hoppy fruity aroma, much like the rest of the the beers in this style. IPA is not one of my favorites but how can you avoid them, they are ubiquitous. Finish is bitter and lasting. I was surprised to find a bit of fruitiness in the background of the taste. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jan 25, 2007 THOUGHTS: The first time I tried this they were starting to experiment with changing the recipe. It was one of my first IPAs. This now full finished product is much better, but still not enought balance between hops and malt and way too much pine & metallic aftertaste. The aroma is great though.
TECHNICAL: Poured a medium red-orange with and average-sized, off-white head that was mostly diminishing but left good lacing. The aroma was lightly malty and moderately hoppy (pine & grapefruit). The initial flavor was light to moderate sweetness and heavy bitterness (pine & citrus hops), and the finish flavor was harsh bitterness with a long duration. The body was light to medium and slightly sticky on the lips. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 17, 2007 12 oz. Bottle. I did not drink this beer as fast as I would have liked. It did hold up after a year or so. It pours murky amber with an off white head and nice lacing. Nice fruit and citrus hop notes in the nose. The flavor has lots of tropical fruits with a nice bitterness and a creamy texture. Well made beer. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA Jan 10, 2007 Hazy amber, off white head fades rather quickly, but leaves nice lacing. Aroma is rather bland. Caramel with only the slightest hint of hop bitterness. Where did all the dry-hopping go? Flavor much the same, apa-ish for sure. Hop character that is present is very soapy, and harsh. Third time I’ve given this a shot, I give up.
