Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 5, 2006 (bonus brew from notalush)semi-murky ornage body with a nice white head that left lacing.very nice hoppy aroma.(ice tea, citurs, pine)flavor was a mix of the same.mouthfeel was nice and crisp.this is a solid ipa. Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2006 Appearance: This beer pours a cloudy orange with a good 2 finger head. Great lacing.
Smell: Crisp. Subtle hops. Hints of sugar and orange citrus aroma.
Taste: For a beer called ’Hops Infusion’ the hoppyness is aprapos. Strong suggestions of sugar in the taste. Also, as in the smell, there is an apparent orange citrus flavor. It is a good taste but the after taste is very very strong and lip-smacking. It is great to keep on chugging and don’t let it linger for long.
Mouthfeel: Light/medium. Smooth and malty up front but dry and crisp to finish.
Drinkability: This a relatively drinkable beer but it is a bit too extreme (going from sugar to hop bite and back again) to be a beer that I could drink all night. Not a chugger beer, but drinkable.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers! greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 30, 2006 12 oz bottle from jah noth. Amber in color, medium carbonation, some lacing, small head. Slight hops aroma with hints of lemon and other citrus notes. It has a dry yeasty taste that leaves an astringent aftertaste. Not a very good representation of an IPA. I would recommend Weyerbacher’s Double Simcoe IPA over this IPA. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 24, 2006 Bottle: Slightly hazy copper, small white head. Aroma, spicy grassy hops. Flavor, citrus/lemon, juicy hops, not that bitter though. I really don’t like this very much. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 19, 2006 Pours a deep cooper color with a slight white head. Aroma is very hoppy and grassy. Flavor is very bitter with a nice dry citrus note at the end. Over a great brw. MrDick (277), San Francisco, California, USA Jul 16, 2006 Hazy amber pour with lots of hops in the aroma. Flavor has caramel and citrus notes but it is dominated by the hops. Crisp body but needs a little more balance. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 16, 2006 12 oz bottle. Sent home from The Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA. Beer is a hazy medium-caramel color with an average-sized, white, frothy, mostly, slowly diminishing head. The aroma is certainly a picture of hop diversity, but it’s not revolutionary. It’s malty with moderate notes of toasty grain, cookie and caramel, light note of toasted bread crust; Hoppy with moderate-to-heavy notes of resin/pine, cedar, lemon zest, dried apricot and instant tea; Yeasty with a moderate note of sharp cheese (pops with a swirl) and traces of dough and sweat. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately-to-heavily bitter with a long, heavily bitter/moderately grippy, lightly sweet, lightly astringent finish. The palate is sexy: body is medium, the texture is slippery satin-backed velvet and the carbonation is lively. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 16, 2006 Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is medium amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit, apricot), lightly yeasty (dough).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation.
Nice mouthfeel, lasting head, and a pretty drinkable balance for an American IPA...only mildly abrasive. Rather ordinary aroma for the style though. Good.
