Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2005 Pours a nice amber. Ok um this thing is full of hops, I mean the smell has every kind you can think of and the taste is bitter like nothing I have ever had before, but it is good, not overdone. Weyerbacher does a good job at not going overkill. beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA Sep 13, 2005 bottle. Darker amber copper, kinda hazy. Big hop aroma - some grapefruit rindy, some spicy / grassy, and maybe some woody. Caramel malts come through too in aroma - almost molasses. Medium to light bodied. Good amount of hop flavors - more grassy, woody, and earthy, and hints of citrus here. Malts are present enough to provide a backing. Lingering bitter finish. I found this pretty tasty, and I kinda wonder if I’m drinking the same beer as some of the other reviews for this. jeckenroth (81), Charlestown, Massachusetts, USA Sep 11, 2005 Medium copper color with a tall white foamy head. Almost no smell other than a hint of hops. Medium body and textture, light carbonation with a strong metallic aftertaste. Hopys but pretty bland. Too weak. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Sep 2, 2005 Draft, Baja Bean, Staunton VA. Deep amber color, almost dark for the style. Subtle nose for the name-- mostly medium malts with faint citrus hops aroma. Flavor mimics aroma: medium bodied malt with a nice finish of grapefruit and flowery flavored hops. Very low bitterness. The name implies the flavor: tastes like the aroma of the finishing hops without the bitterness of the boiled hops. The mouthfeel was incredibly creamy, perhaps due to the lack of bitterness and sweetness of the hops in the finish. I really enjoyed this. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 23, 2005 This bottled brew poured a small sized head of off-white colored foamy finely sized bubbles that left behind a softly carbonated transparent caramel brown colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was musty and malty with an average hop note. The mouth feel was very tingly and hoppy initially then mellowed in its finish. The flavor contained notes of malt hops and mild caramel. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Aug 22, 2005 Bottle 2005. The newer version is better than previous batches. This new hoppier hops infusion has a slightly darker body being a medium amber/dark copper, with a nice head but fades to a thin film. Aroma is better this time around, with possibly a couple newer varieties being used. Great american and english hop usage here. Lots of citrus as well as some earthy herbal and floral hops. Pk malt profile all the way through with a touch of crystal and possibly some toasted malts. Flavor and mouthfeel has that traditional filtered taste which is a downfall but this new version is better than previous versions. On tap at the brewery was slightly darker and cloudy and had a bit more hop profile in the nose. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA Aug 18, 2005 Pours copper with a small off-white head. Aroma is uh...hoppy. Most of the various hop aromas are present--floral, piney, and soapy. Flavor is also uh...hoppy. Fairly well balanced. Good, but not exciting. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Aug 16, 2005 Bottle. Off-white small smooth head that quickly dissipated, fine-medium sized bubbles, sparse lacing, no visible carbonation, hazy, and an orange hue. Aromas of malt, caramel and hops. Flavor was sweet and hoppy, hoppy, and hoppy. Too much for my palate. Hoppy mouthfeel. Medium body.
