| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 21, 2003 Let me just start by saying holy $hit this stuff is carbonated. Pouring a 12 oz beer into a pint glass pretty gently, I was initally left with 1/2 inch of liquid beer and 5 inches of foam. Seems a little over carbonated to me. Think that I am going to need a straw to drink this one. Anyway, great big bubbly head which last for quite a while. Aroma dominated by hops, perhaps a lite pine scent also. Color is a murky amber/orange. Flavor has a medium malt backbone but is heavily hopped which hides tha alcohol. A little on the sour side also with a little bit of citrus. Finish is dry and bitter from the abundance of hops and leaves a nice after taste in the mouth. A very good quality IPA. WisconsinBeer (536), St Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 13, 2009 Bottle. Thanks to Jabic. Pours a deep orange color, almost no head. Flavor has a nice soft malt characteristic to it, followed by a well balanced blend of hops. Pretty much every hop note that you could imagine is in here somewhere. Fizzy on the palate. Finish is dry and phenolic. Nicely done, I’m surprise this isn’t higher ABV by the way it drinks. ¾ (5012), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2006 Bottle. Dark rusty red colored body, with a tan, frothy head with considerably thick lacing. Juicy nose consisting of scents of mandarin oranges, sugary marachino cherries, and chewy scented red-ale-like malts. Reminds me of the hops in Hog Heaven actually. Tangy, fruity flavor, spicy yeast noted, with some chewy plums notes, some cherry wood and nut flavors as well, all the while with a creamy yeast flavor and a light fruity sweetness from the hops. I don’t really like the yeast flavor that much, and I don’t think I’ve ever liked it in any Weyerbacher beers. When warmed slightly this IPA has more of a smoky, rusty, sweet dough flavor and scent. Bittering is decent, maybe lower than it should be, more like an APA. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2004 Pours a dark amber with a foamy white head. The aroma was, not surprisingly, grapefruit/hops. Hops, hops, hops. Nicely carbonated, smooth and medium bodied. Flavor was a refreshing grapefruity, hoppy tang. Nice stuff. Thanks, DocLock! adrian910ss (1445), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 15, 2004 Updated: Feb 24, 2008Very well done.... As the name suggests, hops abound in this brew. It pours a wonderfully cloudy dark amber, with a diminishing head, leaving cobweb lace. Its hops go from the front to the finish, but done so in a way that’s nicely drinkable. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a session beer, as the hops tend to command your attention at all times. I’d have liked a little more malt to substantiate the slight sweetness upfront. It’s spices are nice, although I’m missing a distinct citrus (i.e. grapefruit), and getting a "muddy" fruitiness underneath. I definitely recommend this beer with chili, thai or other spicy foods. It cleanses the palate, refreshing the mouth after each bite. Again, if you enjoy earthy hops, give it a whirl, because it is decidedly drinkable, especially on those occasions where you look for a change from the norm.
