COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hotel is an Imperial Porter of 8.2% strength, brewed with ale yeast (so its not a Baltic Porter, technically). Silky smooth and nicely balanced, this beer can only be found in bottles at the brewery on Saturdays, beginning December 12, as long as supplies last. We have just over 60 cases and don’t expect them to last more than 2 or 3 weeks. In draft, we filled 65 half kegs which will be going to markets in PA, OH, MD, MA, and FL.

Thanks Tom for passing this 12oz bottle on my way! Poured a dark, deep brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roast, some earthiness, chocolate, and caramel. Tastes of roast, the same earthiness, bitter chocolate, licorice, and some nuttiness.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, slight cream, and a hint of caramel. Poured dark brown/ruby in color with a small, tan/beige head that diminished but lasted throughout at a film on top of the beer. Opaque. Not sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of roasted malt, chocolate, light piney hops, and a hint of rye. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt, chocolate, and slight pine hop finish is lightly dry.

Bottle Pours a good brown with a creamy lasting tan head. The head laces very nicely. Aoma is alcohol, chocolate, and caramel. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is bold. Alcohol is hidden well. It has a deep tone, with good earthiness. Not real sweet or bitter. Blended well. Has a medium to full body. The texture is sticky I guess. Has a differntness about. A good mouthfeel. The finish is solid with a good aftertaste. It is a powerful porter. Not a soft sweet like I am used too. This is real good and if you get the chance I would drink it. Heading back to get as much as possible.

Pours a deep dark bloody mahogany looking color that’s almost black and completely opaque with only the slightest of dark mahogany edges. Two finger frothy light beige head with good retention, only slowly settling into a asting cap. Very earthy hoppy aroma with a strong soil like character which is very surprising and a slightly tioasty caramel/chocolate aroma. The aroma is kind of dissapointing with too strong of a dirt like earth presence. Very subte bitter chocolate and dark fruit notes. Slightly viscous chewy medium body with a nice caramel/chocolate maltiness up front with hints of dark fruit. This is quickly overtaking by the strangest combination of lactic creaminess and earthy dry bitter hops. Like the aroma, it taste kind of like dirt/soil and is pretty unpleasant overpowering the nice silky maltiness that began to come through up front. Hints of dark fruit and hazelnut make an appearance as well but it’s just not very well balanced. The high ABV is well masked but overall this beer is kind of messy and not too quaffable.

Tap at OTH. Pours dark brown, mocha head. Aroma dark malts, hints of chocolate/mocha, caramel. Flavor, Intense chocolate/caramel malts, giving this one a lactose like palate. Lightly nutty followed by warming abv and hints of dark chocolate bitterness and a nice roasty finish. This is one tasty treat.

On tap at RFD in Washington D.C. Pours an opaque, slightly viscous black with a creamy, fluffy, white head. Nose has plenty of toasted grains, some brown sugar, molasses, some dark chocolate. Nothing over powering. The flavor is sweet, sugary, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toast, a touch of coffee, a little nutty with some dark chocolate rounding things out. Finish is a little sticky and only medium bodied. I would definitely order this again.
