COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices(Cinnamon,Nutmeg,Cardamom,Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

Draft at Paradiso Dupont. Hazy amber color. Aroma of pumpkin pie. Taste is similar.

Aroma strong spice, Clove mostly, a little overpowering IMO, mellow hue, beidge head, taste Clove jumps out right away, alittle overpowering in this regard, followed by faint spice and malty backbone, Palate, Was not as smooth and easy to drink as I would like, the Clove kinda overpowered this brew, Overall, I would buy again, but maybe just once a year!

(12 oz. bottle into pint glass) Pours a murky dark orange with a one finger head that fell quickly with little to no lacing. Aroma is heavy of the pumpkin and what can best be described as mulling spices. It’s very smooth on the tongue and very creamy, almost like pumpkin pie. The kick of spice is a pleasant surprise compared to some more overly sweet pumpkin ales I’ve tried. Definitely one of the top contenders in this heavily populated seasonal style.

The second beer in my tour of Pumpkin brews this season, is the Weyerbacher Brewing Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Hailing from my home-state of Pennsylvania, this should be a significant step up in flavor from the Shipyard Pumpkinhead I had last night. Described on the Weyerbacher website as the "mother of all pumpkin beers", and clocks in at 8% abv. The Imperial Pumpkin Ale pours out a nice shade of burnt orange, or maybe persimmon. The head is present, but relatively mild, only about one-finger’s worth. Foam is a very tan color, almost toffee colored in the kitchen light. The foam does persist for several minutes, and as it fades, it leaves behind a little bit of lacing. The aromas are already getting me excited, with hints of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and what seems like all kinds of spices I can’t put my finger on. That being said, the aromas are not nearly as intense as I remembered from last year. There’s definitely some more complexity than the beer I had last night, but I think I’ve put the Pumpkin on a Pedestal over the course of the past year. Once I take a sip, I’m again surprised. There is still that distinct hint of pumpkin and spices, but it’s much sweeter than I remember. The pumpkin and spices are balanced very nicely, and complement each other well. But, as well-balanced as they are, the flavors are a little more mild than what I remember from last year. The higher-than-normal 8% abv is virtually unnoticed, the alcohol is completely hidden by the pumpkin and spice notes. Overall, I’m still happy with this beer. It’s a well-crafted pumpkin ale, and given the opportunity, I’d recommend everyone give the Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale a chance. However, I’m still looking forward to a few of the other pumpkin beers coming soon. This may be the Queen of Pumpkin beers, but I’m looking for the king!

Not bad. This one is a little heavy handed on the clove/nutmeg but still tasty. Aroma is similar to taste with medium sweetness and spices. I get a bit of mint in there which is a bit off to me but i just think its heavy-handed with the spices and they overshadow any pumpkin flavor.

This one smells like a really rich pumpkin pie. It hits you with the cinnamon-nutmeg fragrance upfront, then you can smell pumpkin sweetened with molasses. Taste is rich too. Tastes like it smells with the addition of roasted malts. Awesome pumpkin ale! Color is a dark "brownish-red" with a thin tan head.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

A: Deep copper/red with a thing light tan head less than 1 finger that quickly dissipates to a small lacing.

S: Strong delicious pumpkin pie smell. A bit heavy on the cloves and cinnamon, but the pumpkin smell is easily picked out. This smells wonderful.

T: Smells like it tastes. Strong clove and cinnamon tastes slightly overpower the pumpkin. Leaves a cloves aftertaste in your mouth.

M: Medium carbonation, medium bodied but leaves a creamy coating.

O: A good pumpkin offering, a bit heavy on the spices is my only complaint, the cloves in particular.
