Commercial Description:
Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices(Cinnamon,Nutmeg,Cardamom,Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

Dark orange pour small white head. Pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg in the aroma and strong cinnamon in the flavor. Finishes strong, really tasty pumpkin seasonal.

Bottle. Let me begin with a disclaimer that I am drinking this as I am getting the beginnings of a cold. Somewhat ashamed of myself for that. I may have another one when I’m better and revisit this score. Anyway, pours beautiful dark orange-amber, pretty much the color you would expect an imperial pumpkin ale to be. Nice one-inch head, but a little thin, faded quickly. Delicious flavor, well-balanced with all of its intended flavors (pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg). Smooth on the palate, lingers nicely. The 8.0% ABV brings a nice warming effect for the pumpkin time of year. A good beer, one of the best pumpkin ales I’ve had.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a medium amber color with a nice white head that lasts about two minutes. The beer throws strong notes of spices in the aroma, along with a fairly prevalent note of pumpkin, likely added post-mash and fermentation, rather than within the mash prior to brewing. The palate brings very strong notes of spice, almost to the extent that it blows out the palate. There are notes of malt, but it is pretty well muted by the tidal wave of spice that comes through. The finish is semi-sweet, and leaves a lingering finish of cinnamon/all-spice/hazelnut notes. Overall, a nice interpretation, but in need of a bit of moderating in terms of spice addition.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark orange. Pumpkin-being head. Not much lacing. Aroma is clove, cinnamon, pumpkin pie. Slight carbonation, nice pumpkin finish. Not watery or synthetic flavored like most pumpkin/oktoberfest beers I’ve tried. Maybe the best example of the genre I’ve had.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark copper/orange color with a 1/4" beige head and spotty lace. Aroma is pumpkin pie filling with some clove spice. Solid palate. Flavor at first was strong pumpkin, kind of syrupy and artificial and I thought crap, here’s $3.00 I’ll never see again, but then it mellowed out to a wonderful slightly pumpkin and spice flavored brew. To my surprise, this is one of the better pumpkin ales I’ve had. Pricey, but good.

It’s noon somewhere. Bottle, $2.90 at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a clear orange-amber with an inch of creamy tan-orange head. Aroma is spice (nutmeg, clove), crust, pumpkin. Flavor is a little pumpkin with a mouthfull of spice afterwards. Kind of watery, but not bad.

draft @ redlight redlight. Pumpkin, cardamom and cloves, the aroma is heavy on the spices. The flavor is a bit more mellow, pumpkin pie flavors, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, with some nutmeg, smooth and malty in the finish. Not bad.
