4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
DATE: October 7, 2016... OCCASION: made it through another week of school... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter...pours a dark amber, almost mahogany body with a busy, bubbly body that cannot sustain the fizzy, off-white head--a placid surface collects the occasional bubble, but the alcohol halts any impressive froth... BIG, powerful cinnamon, caramel, gingerbread and nutmeg promise BIG things in the profile... some hops also wrapped with a breath of alcohol... a medium-bodied, oily, bourbon-evoking draw... the profile is profoundly ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg--a dessert in and of itself... outstanding, strong, and worth the price tag.... another strong Weyerbacher product that seems bigger than its 8% ABV... right up there with other high ABV pumpkin ales...

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
aged 3+ years - pours deep amber with an initially full off white head but it disappears quickly. visible sediment. aromas are full of the expected spices and strong pumpkin. some honey-like aroma might be due to oxydation. caramelly sweet flavors with expected pumpkin but the spices not quite as prominent as in aroma. very light carbonation but not flat. oily and rich texture with med to full body. what’s left of the bitterness lingers along the pumpkin flavors in the aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 ounce bottle. Toasted amber in color. I taste the pumpkin, cardamom, cloves, and a little nutmeg. Detect a touch of black pepper. Mouthful could be heavier. Smooth on the palate. Overall this a very enjoyable pumpkin ale.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Color: Dark Amber; Aroma: spicy Pumkin, cinnamon, nutmeg. Taste: very smooth--doesn’t feel like an 8% abv beer when drinking; it does however upon finishing; difficult to have just one when watching football. Hands down my favorite Pumkin beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a pumpkin colored copper with a minuscule white head. Aroma is pumpkin. Taste is sweet malt, spice, and pumpkin. Lightish body. Soft carbonation. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear dark coppery orange / cranberry color with almost no head at all. Fairly strong aroma of mixed fall spices. Starts very smooth and sweet then finishes very dry with a sharp cinnamon and clove aftertaste and some alcohol warmth. OK but not as good as I expected.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Purchased at Siciliano's Market in Grand Rapids, MI; enjoyed on a cool late summer evening. Appearance is dark caramel with a thin white head. Aroma of nutmeg, pumpkin spice, smells like fall. Taste is decent, very much sweet, very much pumpkiny. Nothing thats standing out about this one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. 7/14/16 bottle date. Appearance: Dark brown, hazy, with an off white foam head.
Aroma: Smells like Big Red. Strong cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Like pumpkin pie. Cinnamon definitely stronger than most other pumpkin ales.
Taste: Moderate malt sweetness, with some toasted and nutty notes, with light pumpkin pie spicing. Cinnamon and nutmeg are noticeable, but restrained. Pretty high bitterness for the style.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, a little thin for a beer with this ABV. Alcohol warmth is quite strong. Low carbonation.
Finish: Pumpkin spicing really lingers here, with a surprising amount of grassy bitterness.
Overall: Pretty run of the mill pumpkin ale. Strong cinnamon and bitterness compared to others, with a disappointing under carbonation that leaves the beer flat. Body is thin for the high ABV, making the alcohol feel very warm. Could be better and more balance simply by increasing the body and carbonation.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
One of the best Pumpkin Ale’s out there today. Not over powering and a fine balance of ingredients. At 8%, it has a very small back bite and goes down extremely smooth. A perfect seasonal beer and one of my top 10 of all time.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUL 13, 2016 Pours a dark cloudy amber. Head is light and thin. Aroma is great, perfect blend of spices and pumpkin...reminds me of Thanksgiving. Flavor is also pumpkin pie, but not at the same level as the nose. A little sweetness I wasn’t expecting. It’s good, not amazing.
