COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices(Cinnamon,Nutmeg,Cardamom,Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

A real treat each and every year. Just might be the best all around pumpkin beer available. A bit heavy on the spices, but still enjoyable. I always stick up in these to carry me through the pumpkin off-season. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 fl. oz. bottle picked up at the general store of Franklins Brewery, Hyattsville MD. Pours out in a dark copper, foamy light tanned head, lively carbonation. Like dentist fluid on the nose. First time I tasted a pumpkin ale. Medical, cardamom, clove, spicy caramell. Very strange to me. Maybe I would rate it better with more experience with this kind of brews, but at this time, it´s not really my cup of tea.

Rating based on notes from 2 Sep 2011 -- Had a bit of a metallic flavor to it, otherwise it was a pretty good pumpkin beer.

Good imperial pumpkin ale but nothing extraordinary. You get a lot of the spice in each sip.

Bottle. Thick dark copper pour with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Cinnamon, nutmeg, Japanese kabocha pumpkin, spice, Chinese incense. Big full body, well balanced carbonation, sweet finish with nutmeg and sweet spice throughout

Bottle. BBOTMC. Hazy dark brown. Lots of clove and cardamom, cinnamon and mashed pumpkin aroma, spicy, alcoholic bitterness in the mouth. Carbonated, medium-bodied, clove-like bitter finish.

This is some of the best pumpkin beer I have tasted. The aroma hit you with spice and cinnamon and the flavor of fresh pumpkins runs through out ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear amber with redish tint. Very little fizz though it has some bright carbonation. The aroma is rich spices and amber malt. The flavor is rich spices with a drying herbal hop bitter that adds minimal flavor while adding nice depth. The pumpkin is light and smooth. The Amber malts are clean and mostly simple but fit well. The carbonation fills the palate tho doesn’t show any fizz. Nice dry finish with lots of spice and flavor lasting.

Bottled: 17AUG11 A: Pours a nice semi hazy dark burnt sienna colored ale with under a finger of fine white foam which falls to a broken sheet with a central cap. Spotty lace. S: This one seems dominated by nutmeg. Second fiddles cinnamon, cloves. A hint of a sour squash nose. T: Spicy. Wow. Tons of cinnamon with some dry toasted bread flavors. The nutmeg falls through here for me. Pretty sweet, but earthy. M: Moderately heavy for me with a lively carbonation that rounds out fine, but the finish is also wet with a waxy coating. O: Of the pumpkins I’ve had, this one is pretty middle of the road. Serving type: bottle 10-05-2011

Bottle. Pours deeper amber/copper with a small head. Strong spice aroma with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, caramel. The spices in the flavor are somewhat subdued compared to the aroma. Really drinkable dispite the abv. Nice clean finish and enjoyable overall.
