3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 VillageBeerVin (17) - Buffalo, New York, USA - OCT 21, 2009Growler from Village Beer Merchant. Pours a medium amber color with nice light tan head. Nose is spice, fruit, and alcohol. Smells like banana bread more than pumkin pie. Light, sparkling mouthfeel for an 8%-er. Tastes like a desert baker’s take on a double hefeweizen. The yeast fruitiness and banana flavor couples well with the actual spices used. The cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove stand out above the pumpkin. It’s a bit boozy but I can still taste the pumpkin spice flavor minutes after my last sip.
Used to be my favorite pumpkin ale, and it is still a delicious one, but a little too much spice for me to drink more than one or two at a time.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 zenkis (300) - Ogre, LATVIA - MAY 18, 2013
Pours deep amber to copper with white top, thick foam lasting minimal. Thick, above medium body, syrupy texture, mild dry finish, a bit astringent, pleasant mouthfeel indeed. Aroma - sweet caramely, toasted malt and overall cloves (too much) and pumpkin only far overseas notes. Taste is sweet dominant with nicely blended bitter from malt and sour. Not that I liked it very much but from this style it is really good brewed, so far best spices beer. Pleasantly drinkable, tolerable :)
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Chuckaduck (507) - Kentucky, USA - APR 16, 2013
Bottle. 4/16/13. Pours opaque dark brown with a fluffy, thin beige head. Aroma is pumpkin, spice,.banana, bubblegum, cinnamon, nutmeg. Taste is spicy, boozey, pumpkin spice, bitter fruit rind, vanilla. Some light lacing. Chewy mouth feel. Medium-low carbonation. It’s excellent as a beer all it’s own. It’s aromatic, flavorful, memorable. Unfortunately, the taste is much more pumpkin spice than it is pumpkin. Considering the promise of the style, this is disappointing.

Aroma is rather strong on spices – feels like a christmas beer. Also some pepper, punpkin and hints of toffee. Flavour is also very spicy with apricot and pumpkins. Too spicy but kind of interesting still.
