| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Light head on an amber body. Obvious particles floating in the beer. Has the aroma of JD with just a little bit of hops. Taste is very strong JD with vanilla from the oak and a long finish that coats the tongue in vanilla flavor. nhorween (641), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2007 22oz. Finally, a Weyerbacher beer that actually benefits from being barrel aged. Syrupy brown pour with a head that doesn’t last. Might be cold, but the aroma is a bit muted - oak, cherry, vanilla, hops, caramel malt, alcohol. There’s an earthy and musty quality to it that’s good initially, but begins to wear on me a little. Abrupt bitter finish. It’s good. unclemattie (2447), Georgia, USA

Aroma of cherry and bourbon. Flavors of an aged rum. Watery texture. Definite Alcohol presence. jake65 (1760), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Bottle from Slob - Thanks! Pours a clear amber with a large beige head. Nose is abundant with the barrel aging process; sweet and sherry like. Flavor is very sweet and even more like sherry. Bourbon barrel is even more pronounced. Malty with hints of dark fruit, but I can’t get past the sherry. Definitely prefer the original idiot. EithCubes (2177), Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 9, 2007 Bomber is at least a year old, might be two. Strongly oaky aroma, earthy caramel overtones taking second place with a little flat tire to round out. Rising, sizzling fumes and sweetish rush of alcohol, and a bit of sugar. Darkish red-orange body with a big, full, creamy beige head. Taste doesn’t really have a whole lot of sweetness or bitterness, mostly musky, cologned oak and strong alcohol, with a degree of caramel and a sugary burn toward exit. Strong syrupy vanilla, full syrupy body and a smooth feel. Way too raw and messy.
If this truly is just barrel-aged Blithering Idiot, which I did not know when rating, then all the more shame - all of that wonderful complexity has been lost. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2007 From a near 3 year old bottle...
Appears a slight dark amber with a small, light tan head that fades into a mild cap and silky collar. Streaky webbing is left around the glass. Lots of funky fallout slowly falls to the bottom of the glass out of suspension.
Smell is of oaky vanilla, cherry, oxidized raisins, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, port-like, and rich.
Taste is sugary, rich, vinuous, oaky, nutty, & sweet up front.
Mouthfeel is nutty, boozy, oxidized, silky, full bodied, and chewy. wetherel (1658), Encinitas, California, USA

Nice malty beer. Great caramel aroma. Heavy body. Super thick. Buttery aroma from the oak aging. Little head. Sweet. mrant (330), New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Smells thickly of bready yeast. Pours a hazy milky dark amber. Taste is very sweet with a strong sugar alcohol taste. Very complex sweet flavors make for the first barely wine I enjoyed.
