I am always a fan of strong beers especially from weyerbacher but this is just a headache in a glass too strong to really enjoy.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aged bottle, as I continue to work through the cellar (yep, no more beer until I get this down to a reasonable, 5 shelf ’stash’)....Pours brown with a thin tan head, but an impressive amount of carbonation bubbles evident against the glass - appears to be lively, and mouthfeel confirms this. Aroma is sugary, brown sugar, malt, booze, wood. Flavor is very sweet (somewhat cloying), boozy (even with the age)...oakiness is present, some caramel. Palate is surprisingly hot for the age, but not in a bad way, but I wasn’t surprised in the least to see the ABV in the double digits. Decent beer, but nothing wonderful...

Draft at the brewery. Pours hazy medium brown with a thick creamy beige head. Tastes like very strong booze, sweet syrup, chocolate, malt. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like syrup, malt, caramel, alcohol.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a snifter tasting glass from a 12 oz. bottle. There was some carbonation which dissipated quickly. The beer has no head with little lacing at top of glass.
Aroma- Strong wood and bourbon smell follow by fruit (multiple) and dark chocolate.
Appearance- Light, murky, brown in color.
Taste- Charred wood, bourbon, tannins, dried fruit (prune).
Palate- Medium to full body mouth fill. Beer has a burnt wood, whiskey/bourbon start with a almost dry and tart finish. Also noted little caramel and fruit which added the subtle sweetness in between the start and finish.
Overall- The bourbon and wood was a little overwhelming. Some may dislike depending on personal tastes. I’m a fan of oak aged beers therefore I liked it and think it might balance out over time if the bourbon mellows out a little.

Murky red brown pour. Rich malt aroma, toffee, caramel, some bourbon. Taste follows with candied sugar and some cherries. A little syrupy, low carbonation. Still tasty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Oops, let this one sit a bit too long as evidenced by the dead yeast laden mahogany sea beneath a slowly setting creamy brown sky. Aroma is big and boozy with oak, toffee, caramel and bourbon. Taste is rather sweet with alcohol, oak, vanilla, sugar and some dark malts and dark fruits. A bit too cloying for me.

Smokey and rich. Sweet toffee notes and lots of bread. Alcohol certainly there. Burn on.
