4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Big Bourbon notes, with some vanilla and toffee peeking through. Slightest hint of piney hops.
A: Ruby red with brown undertones. Little to no head on the pour. Very thin lace.
T: Follows the nose. Big bourbon notes with strong vanilla and toffee notes and some brown sugar and oak in the background. A little on the sweeter side, but not too bad as the booze does a good job of balancing out the sweet malt.
P: Medium-thick and very sticky. Next to no carbonation.
O: Syrupy sweet, perhaps too much, but strong. chocolate notes over a mellow BBA’d charcoal burn makes this WORLD CLASS!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle to tulip, pours a murky burgundy with medium dissipating head, light retention. Nose of caramel, vanilla, nut, ripe fruit. Flavor displays a rich maple body with vanilla and light smokiness, alcohol burn a tad noticeable. Surprisingly drinkable, linger is not too strong, but no aspect gives it that uniqueness to really pop-out. Hits hard on the buzz level, flavor could use a little "umph". Still impressive in other aspects though.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Just not my cup of brew. Real oak takes this barley wine by surprise. Try it yourself. Not for me.

12oz bottle. Aroma is sweet barley wine and booze. Appearance is a red/brown with a cream colored head. Taste is boozy with a certain sweetness of malt to it. Palate is sweet. Overall, a good mash up of beer and the hard stuff. Would buy again.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Braune Farbe, leicht trüb. Geruch nach Portwein, Pappe, höhere Alkohole. Im Geschmack süß, nicht bitter. Recht alkoholisch.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cheapie from Sussex Arms, Tickenham. Damn. Thought it was a stout. Stinky nose of bourbon and sherried booze, sticky morning after deposits in an emptied glass; huge custard of oak, nougat, Cola. Coke and barrel flavour; mellow warm, dried fruit, treacle, dates, caramel sauce, mad imbalance. The oak demolishes all else.
Deep murky ruby bottomed with bits beneath a fine beige mousse.
One dimensional, mildly narcotic nightcap. Just too much.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at ~40 degrees F.
Appearance: Pours a nearly opaque ruddy bronze-brown, and forms a thin head of off-white foam that quickly dies to a ring, and evaporates completely by halfway through the snifter. There is no lacing.
Smell: Boozy caramel malt suffused with raisin and cherry wells out of the glass, alongside a bready scent.
Taste: Caramel suffused with fruits, specifically cherry, fig, and date, opens the flavor palate. Breadiness joins in as it moves along the palate, and there’s more than a hint of boozy liquor along for the ride as well. Touches of oak appear, alongside a faint mix of spice and smoke, and very vaguely, vanilla. The finish leaves a vaguely boozy, vaguely medicinal residue clinging to the tongue.
Mouthfeel: Thick, rich, creamy, sticky, and silky-smooth.
Overall: Of late, I’ve been chased away from the world of barleywines by experiencing too many American barleywines that triggered my hop sensitivity, and had forgotten how much I enjoy a potent, complex English barleywine. This beer reminded me that I place a solid English barleywine up in my pantheon of beers alongside a good doppelbock, eisbock, wee heavy, and quad. Well done, Weyerbacher. Well done.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a murky brown caramel with a thin head. Aroma had notes of whiskey, dark fruits, slightly tart fruits, oak, vanilla cream, and caramel/toffee. Taste is a balanced sweet with lots of bourbon whiskey, oak, vanilla, dark fruits, caramel, and a bitter/sweet ending. Meduim-full body with a low carbonation. Mildly syrupy texture in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall well done. Whiskey barrel, dark fruits, caramel, and a very slight tart fruit.
