3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours deep mahogany with a very thin tan head. The aroma is honey, oak, and roasted malts. The taste is sweet and dark with that honey and oak powering through. The 11% shows nicely creating a lasting warm aftertaste. Nice balance with a medium sweet palate.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a bottle. Pours reddish brown with a creamy head that dissipates to a half inch. Aromas are sweet malt, dried fruit and bourbon. Flavors are caramel, chocolate raisin, cinnamon toast and some nutty notes. Boozy finish with distinctive bourbon flavor and a nicely balanced hop presence. Big, creamy, chewy beer. Surprisingly light on the palate which gives it a deceptively lighter feel. But make no mistake, at 11% ABV, this is a heavy hitter. Overall, this is a very nice ale. This would be a good sipper for a cold night. Not as hoppy as many barleywines, but very well balanced.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle. Cloudy light brown color topped by a medium-sized creamy beige head. Rich, complex butterscotch malt aroma has notes of amaretto and toasted almonds. Flavor is intense sweet alcohol and more amaretto. Subtle oaky notes in mid taste. Hints of dried dark fruits and vanilla bean. Complex, chewy mouthfeel. Very nicely done.

12oz bottle from Crossroads Spirits. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a half inch of foamy light tan head. Aroma is boozy, with notes of sweet dark fruits, caramel, rotted citrus, and a hint of oak. Taste is much woodier then the aroma, with strong notes of amaretto, some darker fruits, and sweet caramel.

Bottle from Dennis, thanks!
Pours murky dark amber, just a ring of foam that clings to the glass.
Caramel/toffee, bourbon, and vanilla in aroma, some alcohol.
Taste is sweet at first with raisin and bourbon, some vanilla, chocolate and dry notes at the end.
Medium body, high but soft carbonation. Sticky and round mouth feel.
After taste has some alcohol heat and chocolate.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle into snifter. Nice hazy amber brown color with good amount of light tan head that held well and faded into a medium collar. Earthy sweet caramel aroma. Taste is slightly boozey, but otherwise an enjoyable woody hop pines, some toffee, and a slight vanilla character. A bit lighter body than I would like from a barley wine. Medium carbonation.

I am always a fan of strong beers especially from weyerbacher but this is just a headache in a glass too strong to really enjoy.
