Commercial Description:
Insanity, first released November 2004, is Weyerbacher's latest creation in the world of cutting edge beers. Insanity is made by aging our perfectly balanced Blithering Idiot Barleywine in oak bourbon casks. This incredible combination creates a melange of flavors such as malt, dates, oak, vanilla, and bourbon just to name a few.

A hazy orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is quite faint, but what is there is of malt and caramel. The flavor is better, with primary notes of caramel, but also light notes of alcohol and vanilla (from the oak). The end is very dry and quite woody, but also with notes of cowberries.

Bottled. Hazy red, near no head. Woody apple brandy nose - calvados! malty and sweet with clean mouthfeel and a completely overpowering bourbon/calvados wood flavour. Sugary finish. One-dimensional undiluted barrel flavour. A disappointment.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours amber golden with a slight haze and a small, off-white head. Malty, caramelish nose. Full-bodied with lots of oak and caramel. Well balanced, hoppy finish. Lovely. 220406

Hazy reddish-amber. Crazy boozy vanilla maple colour. Sweet, like a maple liqueur (but not as gross as those tend to be), with a soft maltiness. Nice firm alcoholic finish. A simple beer, but highly effective.

Bottle. Caramel malty, sweet coconut, oak aroma and taste. Medium to full body with a malty, oak finish.
