Scubatrip (315), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Jan 11, 2008 From the bottle, pours a clear golden color with visible debris. Very banana and clove like aroma, reminds me more of a hefe than a tripel. Wow. I really like this one. It’s like a strong beer hefe, which is one of my favorite styles. Quite a banana flavor, yeasty as well as you might expect from a German hefe, very smooth. This just became one of my favorites.
Petrucci914 (374), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours a hazy golden color with a medium soapy head that fades quickly and leaves no lacing. Aroma is clove, coriander, banana, and spice. Taste is your tyipcal Tripel - Sugary sweetness, banana. Good, but nothing special. thenick (583), North Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 1, 2008 Sample @ BBF 08, Boston. Pours a golden color with a fluffy but quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma was clove, banana, Belgian candy sugar, and spice. Taste is pretty much the same, with an added element of dark fruit you don’t usually find in this style. The palate is a bit watery, and the flavors, while solid, are not as strong as I would’ve liked....I’d call it just OK. jbuzz (507), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 1, 2008 Single from Woodmans Oak Creek. Strong Clove and a hint of Banana slight sweetness. One of the better US Abbey brews. Juelze (700), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 25, 2008 Pours a golden color with some semi-frothy white head that fades quickly. Aroma is of ripe fruit, yeast, sugar, belgian spice and light cherry. Taste is much the same with a cherry infusion of sorts. Taste is a bit harsh and abrasive across the palate. Moderate carbonation. Not bad, but not a fan. Hank1980 (367), Athens, Georgia, USA Sep 21, 2008 Pours clear gold, no head or lace. Nose of spice, sugar, alcohol, yeast. Taste is similar, with a slight warming alcohol finish. Sugar is very present. Mouth is light and fizzy. Not too bad.
