3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The first thing standing out about Weyerbacher Merry Monks is the unrelenting effervescence. A myriad of micro bubbles race through the sparkling clear Tripel to reach the creamy white head. Yeast, banana, and bread dominate the aroma. After a sip, sweet grapes come to the forefront, buttered toast, followed by just enough hops to balance. Gets sweeter, dryer, and the 9.3% is more evident as it warms.

Typical, to-style Belgian tripel. Light, sweet, w/ a slightly cidery nose. Very warming but hides the high ABV very well.

Pours good with light white head. Has a heavy cirtus and wheat aroma. Has a strong wheaty and yeasty flavor with sweet citrus, fruit, pine, and caramel. A sweet malt aftertaste.

From a bottle into a goblet. The pour is a fizzy orange ale with a white head. A Belgian sugary fizzy ale.

Botttle. Cloudy greenish yellow with medium sized spongy off-white head that dissipated rather fast, vanilla-yeast aroma, low carbonation, citrusy yeast taste, strong body, medium finish, faint alcohol aftertaste. Very well balanced triple.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of my favorite brews from one of my favorite breweries. I detect a grassy/hay aroma. Color is a pale orange with a thin white head. Swwe malty flavor with very mild hop finish. At 9.3% abv, this brew packs a punch, but is rather enjoyable.

Nice Belgian tripel. You can pick up the fruity flavors from the Belgian yeast. Not too dark, but sneaky sting as are most triples. Finished nicely, one of my favorite triples.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours golden with a one finger white head with nice lacing. Aroma is of belgian yeast, banana, cloves, candied yeast, ripe fruits, and light sourdough bread. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma with a lot of sweet banana, cloves, overly sweet ripe fruits, and sourdough bread. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, pretty sweet, medium finish. Overall, a decent belgian trippel that is a tad too sweet for my tastes.

Lemon, banana, and bubblegum in the aroma. Flavor has bready caramel, banana, and dark fruit. Some citrus bitterness and alcohol dry out the finish. Very faithful example of the tripel style, and very good.

Bottle. Pours golden with a huge rocky head. Aromas of lemon, clove and banana. Flavors are lemon, spice, stone fruits, black pepper, and sweet banana. Finishes with citrus, pineapple and banana. Prickly, peppery mouthfeel. Noticeable alcohol warmth. Very fruity and spicey beer. Actually, very nice.
