COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

typical Belgium with a bit more fruit...somewhere between a Belgium and a Saison...floral hops adds a nice balance to the yeastiness...

Draught at Edison Ale House, Newark, NJ; 10 oz
Cloudy golden color with small compact head. I expected more from Weyerbacher, but this is just one more sterile American attempt at Belgian styles, resulting in a boozy sweet beer, with strong bubblegum character, and relatively low bitterness; impression of pond water.
Im not impressed.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into pint glass. Aroma- A very sweet aroma of malt and fruit. Appearance- A darker shade of gold with a small white head. Taste- Has a very sweet initial flavor of fruit, the alcohol is well disguised and I enjoyed the additional spices tossed in. Palate- this is a medium bodied beer with mild carbonation. Has a mildly creamy texture that suits the flavor. Overall- A pretty good beer, I think this is a good American take on a tripel.

Bottle. Cloudy golden color with short-lived white head. Aroma is yeast, fruit, and faint cider. Light body with high carbonation. Flavor is sweet and fruity with a little funkiness. The high alcohol content is pretty well hidden. Admittedly not my favorite style but a nice beer.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of 11/05/16. The pour is a cloudy, heady, medium amber-orange color. The nose has a lot of variety including Belgian toasted malts, Belgian sugar, pear, pepper, coriander, and a some feint alcohol. Medium to bold body with an alcohol burn that coats my throat. The taste brings out the peppery-spice characters along with the toasted mall underbelly. Assertive bitterness to the end.

Pours a lovely orange-gold with significantly fluffy head that reduces with pace. Aroma is sweet malt with mixed fruit. On the palate, there are some funky yeasts and alcohol burn before sweet notes. Give it a few minutes, though, and it opens up to a range of fruit notes, from pineapple and mango through orange and pear. Not a beer to pour down the hatch. Aside from the fact that the (unlisted) ABV seems higher than reported, aeration improves a so-so start into a very decent hommage to Belgium.

Date Tasted 2/24/15. Poured from 120z bottle into Chimay Chalice. Bottle dated 12/17/14. Two finger fizzy head dissipates to a thin head after a few minutes. Minimal lacing. Appearance is translucent golden orange. Aroma has sweet floral notes with maybe a touch of citrus. Taste is light and sweet with exotic fruit, yeast and maybe pear near finish. Moderate carbonation. Overall enjoyable well crafted beer.

Aged for a year. Very dry with a lot of spice and still pretty astringent. Yeast strain adds an complex element to the flavor.

Bottle purchased at Elevated in South Minneapolis. Light orange in color with a healthy amount of head...the majority of which exits the glass quickly leaving about a half finger remaining. Little bit of cloud to the appearance as a result of the sediment presence. Aroma definitely has the sugary, candy presence and a little bit of a tropical note. Taste certainly takes its cue from Belgian styles with a funky, yeasty character prevailing. Sugar and alcohol advance to the forefront too. Leaves a bit of the alcohol burn to make sure you know its clocking in just over 9%. There is a good spice working throughout as well. Actually a pretty solid representation of a Belgian tripel although clearly a notch below the stuff coming out of that beautiful beer country. I would get merry with these monks again.

750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 10/29/2014. Pours lightly hazy bright golden color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big pear, apple, apricot, banana, pepper, clove, coriander, wheat, candi sugar, bread, herbal, grass, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big pear, apricot, apple, banana, pepper, clove, coriander, candi sugar, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of pear, apple, apricot, banana, pepper, clove, coriander, candi sugar, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great crisp malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly prickly mouthfeel that is great. A good amount of dryness as well. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding tripel style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
