3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Teege (375) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 13, 2011Draft at redlight redlight. Pungent and rich malty nose with hints of dark fruit, though it is a little hairy, which I don’t really care for. Good cloudy amber with a nice creamy, off-white head. The flavor is not what I expected. Though more subdued than I anticipated, I’m really pleasantly surprised: slightly nutty with a semi-sweet malt finish. Also smoother than i expected. Not bad at all.

The beer pours a reddish-caramel color with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of toffee and raisin notes up front. As the beer warms I start to get more dark fruit and cherries in the aroma, as well as some brown sugar-like sweetness. The flavor is more complex. I get some nice spices, with cinnamon really coming through strongly. I also get some toffee and caramel, as well as some cherries, raisins and other dark fruit. Once again the brown sugary sweetness comes through nicely, as does a hint of alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
