COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest creation, MUSE, is a Farmhouse Ale with a distinctive Weyerbacher signature. Farmhouse Ales, by tradition, were used as restoratives for workers during the warmer months under the hot midday sun. Typically made with barley, sometimes wheat and oats as well, a Farmhouse Ale could be light golden to amber in color, but always with a dry, slightly tart finish, thus being a great thirst quencher.
Weyerbacher MUSE is light amber in color, brewed with barley and a healthy dose of raw wheat and raw oats as per tradition, to give it a mouthfeel that’s both silky and light at the same time. The wheat and oats add a bit of cloudiness to the beer as well, so don’t be afraid, sometimes cloudy is good! A very special Belgian yeast strain was used to ferment this particular brew, and it was done at downright “hot” temperatures, 78 F, in order for the yeast to develop its spicy profile that is expected for a Farmhouse Ale. No spices were added to this brew, its all from the yeast.
MUSE is hopped with Styrian Goldings for bitter, and Saaz for aroma, both just adding even more to the dryness of the brew. Putting it all together, you have a slightly spicy palate, with pleasant aromas and very dry, mildly bitter finish. At 6.2%, you’ll want another one so you can ponder this intriguing taste profile, and you may find yourself wondering why you haven’t explored Farmhouse Ales before!

this beer pours nice looks good and even smells decent. But the flavor is bad. It’s sour and tart. not even slightly pleasant. perhaps this is a bad batch. But I’m not sure - I think it just plain sux

Bottle. Aroma bready and lemony slight earthen. Poured a darkened golden to amber. Flavors of peppery lemons and wheatiness melded pretty good. Palate was medium and relatively balanced. Overall I didn’t drink this really cold and had just come in from 3 hrs of hard yard work and I enjoyed it. As we all know farmhouse ales are hit or miss. I Found it embacingly enjoyable.

Bottle... RBSG 07... Hazy, golden ale with a small, frothy, white head. Decent retention. The nose is spicy, breadsy and grainy with notes of lightly toasted pale malts, white pepper, clove, light funk and lemon peel. Well-balanced flavor in all aspects; bitterness, sweetness and acidity. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Finishes fairly abrasive and dry. Enjoyable.

Ho hum poured an light amber color with big bubbly head. Aroma was very wheaty some spices and less funk then it expected. Flavor had plenty of wheat some spices even some grass but that could just be funk. Okay jsut didn’t do it for me.

THOUGHTS: This is a first for me — giving a Weyerbacher beer a bad rating. A very different direction for Werebacher. It didn’t taste that bad bud the aroma was awful. I almost wanted to hold my nose to drink it. The aroma is also evident in the flavor, but is underlying. A fruity flavor, that if not for that nasy underlying flavor it would be a great tasting beer. It did get about 100 times better as it warmed but 100 times 0 is still 0. I wouldn’t recommend this to other Wyerbacher fans. I’m not to familiar with saisons, so maybe this is something saison fans would love, but I cant see why. I might try it again if I have a summer cold because it my nose were clogged and I couldn’t smell that awful aroma it would be an OK beer. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, dark yellow with a average to large, sudsy, white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was harsh sweat, barnyard, chees and earhy yeasts and quite possibly sweaty crotch. The initial flavor was light to moderate sweetness, moderate acicity and light bitterness and sourness, while the finish was moderately sweet and bitter and moderately to heavily acidic and sour with a long duration. The body was light to medium and somewhat dry with lively carbonation and a metallic chalky and lightly astringent finish.

RBSG 07. I really like saisons, but this one is not a good beer. It has a bad chemical aroma, more chemicals in the flavor, and very light spice. Thin, light body.

This is an ok beer. Not the best from Weyerbacher. A good aroma, nice color. The taste was ok, not the best. My first Saison, I hope others are better then this one.
