willblake (1917), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Apr 28, 2008 20070519 Bomber. This stuff looks great, orange amber with lofty, sudsy, off-white head. Aroma is not so good - wet hay and barnyard, they’ve captured that essense, but it’s not a comforting or good farm smell, more like a central PA farm. It’s not good. Flavor is just bad, notes of browned ground beef, wet weeds, and dank smoke. Ick. Tastes like a stinky, dank bar smells in the morning. Fair to medium body with mild eff.
Oakes (6784), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2008 Opaque orange with a thick, rocky head. Very dusty, rustic nose, lightly fecal, peppery, saaz/styrian and lots of pale malt. Spicy, herbal, peppery body with a bit of a stiff alcohol signature. Slightly floral. Full body. Complex, meaty, yet refreshing. Old-timey. tupalev (2267), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 10, 2008 Bottle shared with Jon, Jerc, and Mabel, courtesy of J&K. Sour aroma - not nice. Decent taste though - some redeeming light malt and fruity aspects. But way too thin and possibly off. Not great at all. jerc (3050), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2008 2008-07-04. Lightly hazy golden body, modest off white head. (3+). Light floral notes, yeast, light alcohol, muted spice. Similar flavours, light bitterness, florals and fruit. Muted spice. Average palate. Past its prime or just average to start with?Bottle from Consumers Beverages, Buffalo

redlight (1029), Winter Park, Florida, USA Jun 24, 2008 Sweet aromas with some barnyard aromas, not really funky but there’s a hint of mustiness. Pours cloudy amber gold with a thick white head. Very dry, with hints of spicy sweetness, hints of peppermint, some funky flavors, actually reminescent of a Fantome with a spicy, floral yet dry finish. There’s a decent bitterness in there too. All in all not a bad Saison. kiefdog (305), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 22, 2008 50cl bottle from Kingdome Liquors (Brandon, FL). Pours a cloudy caramel-honey golden color with thick, frothy white head that laces the glass. Aroma is spice, bread, yeast, straw. grain and hay. Hints of honey. Flavor is. . . . .interesting. Woody, meaty, spicy, yeasty, bready, come to mind. Notes of saison spice, along with tree bark and slightly dry palate. Complex farmhouse ale with light to medium body and spicy yeast finish.
