COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed to the classic “Weyerbacher anniversary requirement” of a strength of 10% ABV or more, Nineteen fits the mold and brings a new dimension to the anniversary pedigree: tartness! Two brews were made: a high-ABV mango-infused wheat beer and a tart blending beer, both using pale and wheat malts and a blend of Belgian yeasts. The final blended beer features both tropical sweetness, as well as the tart citrusy character of a spontaneously fermented beer. Nineteen should cellar quite well. Cheers!

Intensely fruity, sweet, definitely a nice mango punch, but it kinda tastes more like a wine cooler than a real sour beer. I’d be interested to see how it ages, and it’s not awful, but a weird beer that I wasn’t in love with.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell. Hazy gold-apricot color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, apples and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of funky apples and melons, earthy yeast and malt. The finish is fruity with a tart apple and mango aftertaste. Decent overall.

Lightly hazy golden-orange body, medium to thin white head, spotty lacing. Mango, semi-sweet grainy cereals, honey, some citrus, and wheat. Medium bodied, soft, smooth carbonation, some booze, lingering, slightly muddled finish. A bit too big and sweet... I think this would have been more successful if dialed back a few notches.

Mango was very light. Decent enough. Would have again. Came in full glass which needed more head. It dissipated too quickly.

Poured light orange with a thick creamy white head. Slight wheat aroma but primarily sweet mango and other tropical fruits. Overly sweet. Not for me but maybe if you like fruit beers.

Bottle. Hazy orange/gold with a foamy 1 finger white head. Lots of floaties. Aroma is wheat, earthy funk, cereal and tart mango. Taste follows but is heavy on the tart and mango notes. Almost tastes like a boozy mango flavored Berliner Weiss. Light bubblegum on the finish. Thin body, strong carb and quick finish. Ambitious but perhaps a bit over the top.

A strong, tangerine color. Poured into a snifter. Tart, citrus, flower aromas. Big palate taste mango’s, sorbet, and fruit. A beautiful beer.

This one poured a hazy orange with a white head. Aroma was of mango, lemon and booze. Flavor was sweet, booze mangos, lemons, oranges, light tartness and yeast

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a huge foamy orange-white head that lingered forever and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet sugar, tangy mango, peach and tropical fruits. The flavor was very tart and sour with mango and peach that exploded on the tongue with sour tropical fruits and sugar. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.

Pours a pale yellow with lasting ring and some floaties. Aroma is wheat, Belgian funk, a little fruit. Taste is TART! Wow, this is trippy... my first sour/wild ale. There is a bit of a yeasty sweetness fighting for relevance in the beginning, but it’s quickly drowned out by the wave of tartness. This was good for up to 5 years in the bottle, but only aged 3 months. Maybe this would mellow with age, but for now it’s got a Sweet Tarts finish. Definitely a sipper, and 10% ABV isn’t apparent... but the finish is just too much.

Bottle. Pours mostly clear gold with thin, fizzy head. Aroma is cereal malts, straw, light tropical fruit notes, faint spicy notes, and faint orange peel. Flavor is dry malts, light sour fruit esters, light spicy hops, and some farmhouse yeast esters; dry finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.
