pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 6, 2008 12oz bottle from a trade a ways back. poured side by side with Heresy, the bourbon barreled version of this very beer.... pours pretty close to black with a thin wispy brown head that clings towards the sides of the glass.... aroma are of the usualy chocolate malt with a decent burnt roast componenet to it... flavors of chocolate, less roast, and def. shades of fruitiness and maybe just a tad of a sour bitter roasty finish. medium carbonation and body. could have been more full and sweet but this is generally pretty good. yayforbeer (641), Orange Park, Florida, USA Dec 4, 2008 Six pack from Total Wine, $9.99. Very dark, almost black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and sweet dark malts. Flavor is silky smooth with chocolate and coffee and molasses.. Not much roastiness or bitterness, but good medium body and assertive flavors. Very drinkable and alcohol is hardly noticeable. Excellent Imperial Stout. kennydiaz (182), staten island, New York, USA Dec 3, 2008 POURS NICE THICK, DARK AND CREAMY. NICE STRONG TASTE OF ROASTED MALTS. A VERY GOOD IMPERIAL STOUT AND WITH A MODERATE PRICE TAG THIS ONE IS A MUST BUY. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Dec 1, 2008 12oz bottle. Dark black pour with a dark chocolate head. Huge dark malty aroma, lots of dark fruits, roasty. Rich, bold flavor, quite eay to drink as well. Pretty darn good brew. jhumphries69 (714), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Nov 18, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a deep, dark brown - almost black - like black coffee. The head is medium-thick and light brown in color, is short-lived, and leaves subtle lacing on the glass. The aroma is pungent and earthy with a good bit of alcohol, coffee, and some sweetness. The flavor starts with dark chocolate, lots of malt sweetness and caramel, some cakiness, dark fruit, and perhaps some licorice. At mid-palate: pleasant chocolate and sweetened coffee with fruity and very earthy hops that provide a nice, balancing bitterness. The brew finishes full and warming with notes of coffee and caramel. The mouthfeel is velvety and slippery - medium-full in body with creamy carbonation that is soft and mellow. Overall - a delicious imperial stout. douglas88 (1555), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 15, 2008 Bottle thanks to Daniel, thanks man. Pours a dark, almost black color with an initially large head that quickly goes down to a small light brown head. The aroma is nice; lots of coffee and vanilla, some dark fruits also. A nice flavor of dark fruits, some light coffee and chocolates, some milkiness, toffee and perhaps a hint of banana. The mouthfeel is very rich and creamy. A nice brew for sure. Very drinkable and no notice of alcohol, almost no warmth even.
mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle in trade from daknole- thank you! Served in tumber- poured blacker than two minutes to midnight in a hard late autumn storm, low carbonation, swirls of a tan cream like head on top of the liquid surface that laced to a degree. Aroma of molasses, dark chocolate, heartily roasted malt, and magical beer goodness. Hits the mouth with a high-medium body, not as wide as compared to other impy stouts but still has some weight on the tongue, dark coffee/roasted malt comes in from the start, a note of dark fruit in the middle, finish has a nice feel and lingers. Yum yum yum. KnN (712), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Oct 28, 2008 Pours a really nice deep black color with a thick tan head. Smooth as silk with a lot of nice malt flavor. A hint of roasted malt, but not much bitterness. Good chocolate flavor. Nice beer.
