elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Oct 27, 2008 Weyerbacher Old Heathen 10/26/08 (bottle. Pours deep brown, with startling lack of head. Aroma of vanilla, malt, milk chocolate and hops. Palate is medium with a dry finish and light carbonation. Flavor of roasts, condensed milk, chocolate and raisins. Because the palate is so silky and minimally carbonated, the flavors come through loud and clear. However, because of the odd mouthfeel, I got the strange feeling I was drinking a flat coke. Still, the flavor of this beer is balanced so well, it manages to hold up despite the lacking palate character. Alcohol well disguised and worked into the flavor. hoplover (166), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Oct 27, 2008 I can never ’’love’’ a stout that is too chocolaty. And this one is. It’s not bad, but I just can’t ’’love’’ it. I get licerice in the aroma and choclate malts. Pours black with a thick dark brown sugar head. The mouthfeel is smooth and not too dry with would make it better. jbuzz (658), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 27, 2008 Good rich fruit and roast like smalll chocolates. Very easy going down with no heavy finish
DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 24, 2008 (Bottle). Very rich fruit and chocolate aroma. Black body, brown head. Intense flavor of chocolate, roastiness, some tart fruitiness. Doesn’t really transition to a distinct finish, but the flavor lingers on the taste buds for a very long time. movezig (137), Pensacola, Florida, USA Oct 19, 2008 Excellent stout! Yea definitely a great winter beer. Vanilla in the nose with a nice malt character. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla stand out. A lot of other flavors will have to try this one again sometime. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 Six pack of bottles from Gary’s in Madison, NJ. Extreme coffee and dried fruit flavors. Complex and chewy and quite tasty. chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 16, 2008 Pours a opaque black with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit. I thought it had good mouthfeel and a large amount of chocolate. I was pretty impressive. Good stuff. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Oct 13, 2008 bottle thanks to daknole. black pour with a tiny ring of caramel around the top. rich chocolate, dark fruits and vanilla. medium thickness with a very smooth roasted chocolate flavor and a very strong coffee finish. quite a nice stout here. now i need some to age.
