Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

12oz bottle pours very dark with deep dark brown edges and assertive mocha head. The aroma is sweetness, some vanilla, earthiness, burnt malts, a bit of dark chocolate, some lesser roasted malts and mild alcohol hotness on the nose. The taste is nice and has a bit of velvetiness to it. I get roasty malts, some toffee, faint vanilla, molasses, burnt malts and faint chocolate surfacing by midway. Some burnt malts, roasty malts and molasses sweetness ride out into the finish and after taste. Pretty decent imperial stout but falls far short of the dozens of world class examples.

Pours a deep black with a thick tan head. Roasted grain, chocolaty malt aroma with a slight fruitiness. Medium bodied. Nice taste, chocolaty, robust grains not over the top thickness or hoppiness. Very easy to drink stout. I like this, very tasty.

Bottle. Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma with notes of licorice. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and very smooth alcohol. Very good.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 12 oz bottle. Dark tar-black pour with a thin khaki colored head. Aroma of licorice and burnt marshmallows. Smooth, rich flavor with some espresso, bitter chocolate, licorice and marshmallows. Mouthfeel - thick, rich and creamy. Not quite as over the top as some Impy Stouts - and that is just fine with me. Would make an excellent winter warmer.

Pours dark brown, with hno lacing. Aroma of chocolate, malt, coffee, and a little EtOH. Taste is similar with a little bit of hoppy biiterness coming through, expecially in the finish. Mouth is full bodied and creamy, minimal carbonation.

drank this side by side with some Heresy, to see what effect oak aging would have on the beer. It was an interesting experience, and I preferred the Old Heathen over the Heresy. Here is my review. Very dark brew with no light shining through. Not a great head, and only minimal lacing. No doubt you were drinking a stout when you looked at this one. Aromas of coffee, bittersweet cocoa and espresso. A dark and rich flavored beer. Similar in taste to how it smelled, with espresso dominating the flavor. Very nice tasting stout. The high ABV was very well hidden. Mouthfeel was rich and thick. Again, no doubt that you were drinking a RIS. Very drinkable brew, although the high ABV would definitely sneak up on you, so drink carefully.

500th rating. Bottle, courtesy Tony at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours black, with plenty of sticky lacing, and a dark creamy head. Roasted notes in the nose, caramel, raisin, some grape and chocolate. Flavor has big roasted coffee, caramel, raisin. Tons of complex hops in the finish. A fairly light imperial stout. Pretty refreshing, crisp and drinkable.
