Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

pours thick, very motor-oil like, and very black with a thin light brown head. aroma is not too potent and mostly malt with just a hint of chocholate and roasted nuts. flavor is much more potent that the aroma. starts with a lighter, sweet, malty taste that evolves into a more complex cofee bitterness that lasts on your toungue. some very interesting flavors going on. mouthfeel is not too thick but coating, good for an imperial stout. overall a very quality beer.

This is my favorite stout right now. I find it interesting and unlike most other stouts. It reminds me more of drinking a red wine than a stout, yet it is clearly an imperial. The first one I had, I was pretty sure I did not like it as it took me by surprise in flavor. Once I looked at it objectively however and enjoyed it for what it brings to the table, I was blown away. Mouthfeel might be a bit weak for an Impy, but I think it fits this particular beer perfectly. Complex fruity overtones like that of a merlot or cabernet perhaps. The dry, almost smoky finish stays with you for a while and leaves me longing for more. Just delicious and a pure treat to enjoy.

Jet-black color with a slight brownish head. Medium bodied, great on the palate. Great chocolate and roasted malt taste. Everything a stout should be.

Not real sure about this one, might have to try again. Another find from Jungle Jim’s. Very very black and very strong. Pours ink black with only a slight ring of lacing. The texture to this one is really nice, very silky, almost like velvet. No real aroma (or maybe I missed it). That 8.2 is really evident though, which took away from the experience for me. Seems like all the roasted barley and chocolate and such were hidden under a layer of booze. I was unimpressed, but will probably grab another next time I am in Ohio.

Bonus from adrian910ss, pours oily black with two finger oatmeal colored head. Nose is malty and earthy, with some chocolate. The flavor is far better than the nose, with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate blending nicely.

Nice dark roast in the aroma. Flavor is slightly reminiscent of rootbeer and cola. A wee bit thin in the palate, but not bad, overall.

Pours very dark with minimal to no head. Nose- not a big nose to this beer - faint roast and fruits. Taste- lots of black licorice and plum , roast and chocolate is more in the background. Relatively light bodied example of the style, especially for an american crafted RIS. Carbonation is medium and drinkability is high. Could use more hops and body but a decent drinker.
