Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

Bottled. Black, thin, spotty - lace quickly dissapates. Nose was solid with choco malts and coffee. Flavor was flat out off. Pretty damn acidic and unpleasant - infected? Body was oily/thin for an impy stout and definitely a negative. Either I had a bad bottle - or this stuff is just not good. Didn’t finish it....

deep black. rich tan head. robust aroma of chocolate malt with fruit components. flavor is dominated by the carbonation up front. later the roasted malt and more so sweet chocolate flavors make their way to the surface. The flavor never seems to achieve the robustness an imperial stout should obtain. The finish is wet, slightly toasty and mostly sweet. A great big stout, I don’t know if this brew really achieves imperial status.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark black with a small, khaki head with a bit of lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, some chocolate, hints of alcohol. Flavor is semi-sweet chocolate with a hint of fruit notes. A bit thin for my taste, but definitely drinkable on a nice fall afternoon.

Thanks to Jasonmech77 for this. Pours black with a khaki tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly. The Aroma on this is oddly similar to the Quad. A lot of chocolate covered cherries on the nose, sweet booze, wood, coffee liquer, and maybe some plums. Flavor has a bit more roast to it, some dark chocolate, cherries, wood and booze. Gentle finish of roasted nuts, toffee, and stronger roasted coffee. slight raisin flavor on the throat. Mouthfeel is medium for the style, fairly highly carbonated, and pretty creamy. I can taste alcohol, but I feel no heat. Overall, this is pretty interesting, especially with how fruity the aroma is. I think it suffers a bit from being too easy going though. There’s other styles for that.

This is a great beer. Dark, dark brown almost black in color. The head is a thick coffee & cream color. Initial taste of licorice, strong and smooth with a very complex taste and aroma.

Bottle. The pour is black with a tan head. The head didn’t impress me as it seemed to be quickly diminishing and consisted of relatively large bubbles. The aroma starts off with a sour tanginess like a licorice. There are submissive hints of espresso and chocolate. It’s very milky and slightly oily as it hits the tongue. The taste of slightly roasted espresso hits then gradually diminishes as a milky sweetness, like a milk chocolate, becomes more apparent. I’m used to the hoppy imperial stouts, so this caught me off guard. I like it, though.

Snifter. Rich black in color. Smoky, malty, chocolate nose. Very complex in the mouth. I get milk chocolate,(reminds me of a milk stout a little) a hint of cherry, and some dried fruit toward the end. On the heavy side of medium body-wise. Coats the mouth. Bittersweet finish.

12 oz. bottle. Black body w/ brown head yeah? Aroma of dark chocolate covered raisins with some espresso, molasses and a touch of black licorice. Roasty, approaching smoky dark chocolate malt flavor with some mild fruity tartness in the background. Finishes with charred leaf notes and some more tartness at the very end. Competent Impy.
