Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

12 oz bottle purchased at Monaghans. Poured a perfect looking viscous black with a generous light brown creamy head. Although this one warmed up for forty minutes the aroma wasn’t what I was expecting. Lots of alcohol, so much in fact that it reminded me of model glue or perhaps a magic marker. Hidden behind the alcohol aroma was some notes of chocolate, espresso and when I tried to concentrate on what else was there I just got more alcohol. Mouth feel was light to medium with a touch of overly lively carbonation. Flavor amazingly wasn’t all alcohol but only mostly. There was a nice roasted malty aftertaste after the alcohol subsided. If I wasn’t dying for a beer this would of probably rated a little lower but my first beer in a week helped this one out overall.

12oz bottle. Once again, opaque brown. More head, beige head. Ring and webbed. Cinnamon ginger...more spiced aromas than the previous two(KBS/BCS). More caramel malts in the nose. While not bigger than the former, for me the aromas are more pleasant. Touch soy, touch dark chocolate, coffee and toast. Full bodied with a sticky palate and smooth alcohol malts. Smoother than the previous. No wood aging. Pleasant switch. Score is lower, but appreciation and drinkability is higher. Just not as big as the previous two. But I think I would much rather have this on a random occasion than the others. Very tasty Impy Though the score might not show it!

Poured a pitch black color with a thin tan head. Has hints coffee, nuts, roasted barley, and a hint of cream. Finished smooth and sugary.

Bottle from Footbalm - Thanks! Pours a dark brown/near black with a small tan head. Nose is intense with chocolate, coffee, and roast. Taste is consistent, but a bit light when compared to the aroma. Has a little bittersweet cocoa feel too.

Note: as of writing this, the bottle was purchased nearly one year ago. Appearance: Pours a black body with a small brown head. Smell: Aroma of dark chocolate with notes of vanilla and caramel and only a faint, faint bit of fruitiness and pine lurking beneath the maltiness. Taste: A tasty, sweet mixture of high-percentage cocoa dark cocolate and crème de menthe, like a liquefied Andes mint. The finish is sweet and roasty, with a nice anise flavor lingering into the aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Drinkability: A delightful stout fresh and even moreso a year later.

A delicious imperial stout from a great PA brewer. Beautiful black pour with a tan 1 finger head. Aroma of coffee and alcohol with a hint of chocolate. Taste was nice and bitter...coffee bitter with dark chocolate and a little roasted malt in the back. Nice thick mouthfeel with good carbonation.

Chocolate and caramel aroma, deep brown color. Somewhat bitter on the palette, with a malty/nutty/alcohol aftertaste. Very drinkable.
