Aroma and flavor are very roasty with coffee and slight burnt tones. A bit thin but an overall solid brew with good complexity and the alcohol is not too dominant. Aroma of lightly burned malt. Medium body with a discreet tartness. Some roasted malt with a vaguely burned note. Subdued bitterness from the malts. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Oily opaque black with a quickly fading caramel colored head. Aroma is very roasty stouty indeed with a sweet bubblegum hint. Taste is somewhat more traditional, and not as roasty or overpowering as I usually expect from an Istout. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Bottle. Pitch black colour with a little and fast disappearing head. Aroma of licorice, roastedness, chocolate and little coffee. Flavour of roastedness, chocolate and coffee, ends up thin for a imp. stout. Low body. beachbum25 (783), Powellville, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 18, 2006 12 oz Bottle-Poured a very dark brown color w/a slight reddish tint. Floral aroma of roasted malt. Big flavored stout-hits you with a lot of things, malt, barley, roasted almonds, smokey peat, coffee & chocolate. Very robust, but still very smooth & drinkable; some might say it was almost too smooth for a Stout. This is one you could sit back & enjoy a few of, not one that knocks you over the head & is so strong it takes you an hour to drink one. Long chocolate finish, very refreshing.
