Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with ruby only at the farthest extremities and a thin brown head. The aroma sports lots of espresso and cocoa, with occasional hints of berries, smoke, and damp cellar. The flavor is a bit tart to begin, with some floral hops and wild berry notes. It then evens out to coffee and (gasp!) grapes. The finish is dry and somewhat ashy, with occasional bites of sugar. Fizzy mouthfeel. Interesting.

Pours dark with a moderately fizzy tan head. Aroma seems to be very sour, with some chocolate coming through. Flavor is overall sour, with an aftertaste of mocha coffee. A very odd Imperial Stout.

Black as coal with the smell of dark chocolate and roasted malts. This beer was very good. The taste was very creamy with just the right amount of hop flavor. Texture was very smooth with a nice roasted malt finish.

Black body with a small brown head on top. Both the aroma and taste were complex. Slight hint of fruit on the nose, but nowhere to be found on taste. Taste was very roasty, robust and strong. The finish was dry and had a little coffee and chocolate in it. Very nice, my only complaint is that it’s a bit thick. Otherwise, wonderful!

Brown approaching black pour with minimal tan head that doesn’t last long. Aroma is chocolate and sweet with a hint of licorice. Flavor presents roasted malts, licorice chocolate, sugar. All this rides atop of base of bittering hops that lasts into the aftertaste. Body seems a bit thin for an imperial stout, though it is slightly sticky. The alochol is well hidden with just a touch of pepper at the finish.

12 oz bottle. Beer is opaque, very dark brown colored with an average-sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing head. First sniff says this one is a chewy little winner. Malty with heavy notes of roasted grain, chocolate and coffee, moderate note of caramel and molasses; Hoppy with a moderate herbal note; Yeasty with trace notes of dough and cheese; Miscellaneous notes of moderately weighty alcohol, raisin/date, trace of plum. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic with a long, lightly-building-to-moderately bittersweet finish. Comforting alcoholic warmth. Palate isn’t lush, but it’s pleasing: Body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is soft. Wish we could get this here; this bottle was sent back from VA.

Sampled from 12 fl oz bottle courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pitch black color with a brown head. Sweet chocolate scent with some fresh hints of mint. Big mouthfeel. Sweet, a bit raissin, taste. Sweet and coffee aftertaste. Low bitterness.

[Bottled] Black colour with a brown head. Sweet chocolatey nose, with notes of menthol. There is an ice-cream feel to the aroma really. Pleasantly sweetish, raisin is there, fresh feel to the beer all in all. Chocolate ice-cream. Light coffee notes. Bitter finish. Very straight forward Imperial Stout, nevertheless very yummy.
