Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

12 oz bottle. Pours an opaque black color with a brown head. Smells of raisins, dark chocolate, and weak molasses. If there were hops, I didn’t smell ’em. Mellow chocolately flavor with some roastiness and a hint of alcohol on the tongue. There’s some black pepper which lingers. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too thin in my mind. Not bad, though.

Pours black with small, tan head that quickly fades. The aroma is cola, chocolate and coffee. Flavor is heavy cola, some roasted, some smoke, overall fairly thin. The mouthfeel is light and watery. Quite a disapointment.

rerate: not as impressed with the beer as I was the first time that I drank it. I hadn’t had a real impy stout in about a month so this was amazing, but after getting back into drinking the style its still good, but not the 4.4 that I had down originally. pours dark black with small tan head. Aroma is lot too strong but does exhibit chocolate and coffee with a hop back drop. flavor is smokey with some chocolate and coffee, and carmel notes... good but not great. smooth palate. Decent impy but that’s all

Bottle into tulip glass, The Friday imperial stout tasting, summer 2005. Tasted blind. Solid in the parts, but I was left underwhelmed by the conglomerate. A dry smell of charcoal and musty chocolate. Crisp alcohol on the tounge at first precedes a flat candy sweetness that lacked the mouth-filling malty expansiveness of better impys. Underneath the underdeveloped sugars there’s a chocolate roastiness that’s not bad. Looks nice, dark brown in the glass with very sticky lace, tan head. After a few sips, the smell took on a portish character, which was nice. Medium, thin body. No finish at all.

Bottled. Poured black, with a brown head. Malt and fruit nose, with a roasty falvor and coffee hints in the finish. Not as thick a mouth-feel as some other Impy Stouts, but a fine example nonetheless.

Bottle: dark appearance. Strong aroma of chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Sweet chocolate & coffee flavour with nice fruit accents. Nice beer.

Pours out a dark brown color with a smal tan head. Flavor is robust and malty. Alcohol is hidden very well. Aroma is rather typical of Imperial Stouts.

The final beer of the evening, and what an evening it was. Taste is smooth and complex, roasted, malty, and very coffee like. A pretty good imperial stout, not something I could see aging though. Perhaps a little thin but who cares, its still good.
