Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Apr 7, 2006 Pours a mostly black color with a thin brown head. Strong coffee aroma. This one is a little thin for an impy stout but still enjoyable. Light chocolate and coffee in the flavor. Not a bad beer by any stretch. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 29, 2006 Bottle. Pours black with a diminishing brown head. Nice sweet aroma of cocoa, dark roasted malt, and molasses.Coffee, unsweetened chocolate, and roasty flavor. Bitter and dry finish, with some astringincy. Not bad, but I like Heresy a tad better. BückDich (4777), McCall, Idaho, USA Mar 22, 2006 Bottle: Dark black color, fairly retentive tan head and adequate lacing. The nose is sweet with raspberry notes and a nice roast character with rose water and charcoal. The flavor has a brief astringency followed by a bit of pectin mouthfeel and a nice dry and coffeeish finish with a slap of chocolate in the tail. This is a nice "session" imperial stout. Light bitterness and strong roast, light astringency. Almost a baltic porter here. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Mar 12, 2006 Thanks to Degarth for this. Pours pitch black, very tiny tan head. Pretty standard imperial stout, mostly a dark chocolate and roasted malt along with hoppiness to it, with slight coffee/espresso, and some milk chocolate sweetness, good beer. harmfuldrunk (288), New Jersey, USA Mar 8, 2006 this is very nice but i just had the heresy and this further provers the point that (well brewed brewed beer is ment to not only enjoy now but some really get really better with time. TomDecapolis (3127), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 4, 2006 I had this back to back with the barrel aged version (Heresy). Pours a dark, dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel and roasted malts. Flavor of coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa powder. This was great...Heresy was a step above. BA did great for this beer. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA Feb 27, 2006 Bottle via trade with Kramer17801 (I think). Pours black with a quickly settling, tan head. The aroma is very nice on this one- Roasted malts and some fruit with a tinge of spice. Roasted malt flavor with some fruit notes along with some coffee and a bit of chocolate. Somewhat astringent finish. Nicely bitter. jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Feb 17, 2006 Bottle. Pours black w/ minimal head. Oak, vanilla, chocolate, and caramel all here. Would like a little more alcohol and would like if this beer were a little less watered-down. Drinkable, but I want a little more backbone.
