Dopplebock1538 (71), Sanatoga, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 8, 2005 Pitch black! Huge head, aroma of liquor.
Very carbonated. Complex....yes. Rich, i think not. Ok stout, but it can’t hang with the big boys. JoshuaB (422), Detroit, Michigan, USA Sep 6, 2005 Deep black and not very bubbly. Creamy head with chocolate notes a plent in the aroma. Very roasty and very good. Dry finish with some hops being pretty evident. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 3, 2005 bottle. pitch black, almost motor oil viscosity with a fluffy mocha head that slowly dissipates to a small ring. heavenly aroma of chocolate, cream, and roasted coffee. interesting body with lots of raisin flavour coming through as well as sticky sweet malt, anise, and coffee. only a little bit of warm alcohol in the dry finish which is a change from the other Weyerbacher’s that I’ve tried. Nice. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Sep 3, 2005 Updated: Jun 19, 2009bottle from goldtwins. Thanx alot larry. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 25, 2005 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy & tupalev - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Rich, deep brown (almost black) with a dark tan head. Big, sweet aroma - molasses, licorice, roasted malt, coffee - hot damn! Mouthfeel is nice and smooooooth. Beautiful flavour - strong coffee notes, some vanilla and smoke, some alcohol warmth in the finish. Mmmmmmmm. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 22, 2005 Shared with blankboy, GregClow and Harry - courtesy of Harry. 2 stouts in a row! Black pour, small tan head. Roasted barley and coffee notes in aroma. Very flavourful taste. Lots of alcohol, lots of chocolate and lots of dark malt sweetness. A little syrupy. An excellent imperial stout. ........................."I like the big thick black ones", Greg Clow...........talking about his preference in stouts, of course. Shame on you. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2005 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a murky ruby-black with a spare off-white head. Aroma of roasted and caramel malt, alcohol, fruit and vanilla. Flavour of hops along with some vanilla, alcohol and roasted malt. Tasty but I prefer more coffee and/or chocolate in my Stouts. Bitter aftertaste. A really good Imperial Stout.
