Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

[Bottle] Pours dark brown with a small dark brown head that quickly fades away to a ring. Aroma is chocolate syrup, faint roasted malt and not much else when cold. As it warms it gets better, with the malt and chocolate balancing. Decent at this point. Taste has a weird sweetness to it, some out-of-place fake banana, and then chocolate syrup. The finish is the best part, with the chcolate showing through most. A little muddled and not the best though. Medium-thin mouthfeel, smooth and has a long chocolate finish. Overall it isn’t that bad, but it isn’t that good either. If it has the same variability that I have seen with the Heresy, then it is hard to get a feel from one bottle though. Strike 2 for Weyerbacher imperial stouts, which is a shame, because when Heresy is on it is fantastic.

Bottle from Total Wine Clearwater, Florida. Pours a deep black with big dark tan head. Nose of roast, dark fruit, and some earthy coffee. Flavor is lots of roast, ripe dark fruit, some coffee, but mostly the fruit and a slightly boozy quality come through. Finish is sweet ripe fruit and bitter chocolate tango. Interesting stout.

12 oz bottle. Dark black/brown, with a nice light brown cream head. Aroma is a dark malty chocolate. Chocolate malt flavor, with a bit of alcohol, which is odd given the only 8%... Eh its okay.

(bottle, thanks daknole) Pours black with a tan head. A bizarre aroma of musty wet hay initially. Thankfully this changes to more normal aromas of chocolate, brownies, licorice, oatmeal cookies, and an ample amount of booze. The taste is lighter than the aroma would indicate, with flavors of chocolate, raisin, licorice, a light tartness, and some cracker. The finish is quite metallic and full of alcohol, and the mouthfeel is full. This was ok, but it had a few qualities I could’ve done without in an imperial stout.

Poured back with a smallish light brown head. Sweet, caramel/coffee roasted malts. A delicious first sip, but doesn’t end so smooth. Overall a very nice brew.

Black color. Some chocolate aroma, light dirty water too. Medium bodied, it has a soft chocolate flavor, some roasted malt, but it doesn’t seduce me.

Pours a dark chocolaty brown with a medium brown head. Very pleasant chocolate and slightly roasted malt aroma. Delicious sweet caramel and bitter-sweet milk chocolate flavors at first. The body is creamy and smooth and the finish is a slightly roasted oak that fades nicely.
