The flavor is quite roasty with some smoked fish elements and dark chocolate. Bit of tartness in the finish. A smokey, roasty big dry stout. Good stuff! 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2004 Black, thick dark brown head. Has a chocolate strawberry aroma, kinda like when i get cold stone ice cream and they mix chocolate ice cream with strawberrys and chocolate syrup. Light body, bitter chocolates then to coffee. Nice and light with some solid power. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Taste is smooth and complex, roasted, malty, and very coffee like. A pretty good imperial stout, not something I could see aging though. Perhaps a little thin but who cares, its still good. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Thanks to moejuck for scoring this for me. Before I rate the beer, I’d have to mention the label is one of the most striking labels I’ve seen in awhile. Very cool! Here’s hoping the beer is as good. Aroma is roasted coffee beans, cream, some vanilla and burnt sugar. Appearance was jet black, minimal head. Mouthfeel was coating and slightly slick. Flavor were nice for a stout but I picked up nothing "imperial" about this. It was nicely balanced but I do like my impy stouts to be over the top and this just didn’t do it. Not to say this isn’t good, because it is very good..for a stout. Flavors were coffe, bitter chocolate, and some vanilla. It was missing the smoke and bitterness I love about imperials. Good beer, simply not a impy stout. Butters (1689), Virginia, USA
